French Drinking Chocolate
What you need:
5 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup warm water, divided
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup nondairy creamer (I use soy)
1 teaspoon vanilla, almond, or orange extract, optional
What you do:
1. Combine cocoa powder, cornstarch, sugar, and 1/2 cup warm water in a small saucepan to form a smooth paste.
2. Add remaining water and creamer to the saucepan.
3. Warm over medium high, stirring frequently, heat until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and add any extracts. Enjoy!!
For a less rich version, substitute nondairy milk for creamer.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
i feel utterly satisfied and oooooohhhhhhhh my gosh!! i used 70% dark chocolate and it was divine!! it reminds me of the Chantico drinking chocolate at Starbucks from a few years back from my pre-veg days. ohhh, if only i had some dippy cookies. divine!! :)>>>
Mmmm made this tonight :)>>> Sooo creamy...
I made this the other night because I was really in the mood for some chocolate! I used dark chocolate cocoa powder and it was heavenly. ;D
Delish! Seriously this is really good. The cornflour gives it a rich velvety texture, that makes it taste like what I would imagine proper French hot chocolate would taste like! Oh la la! ;D
PS I used soy milk as I've never heard of soy creamer in the UK and it was still great!
Wow, this was awesome and I totally managed to screw it up even....but it was super chocolate-y and oh so satisfying. I accidentally added way too much cornstarch, so it was thick....like, eat with a spoon thick....but fab nonetheless! I can't wait to make it again the right way!
i didn't use the cornstarch or the sugar, but it was still yummy. :) definitely fixed my chocolate craving! thanks! :)
I really liked this! The cornstarch really makes it a great consistency. I made some changes to make it a little lighter: vanilla soymilk, and half the amount of sugar + stevia. I also used almond extract. And topped it off with soy whip! Thanks for the recipe. :)
This was really good! I added somewhere in between 2tsp and 2Tbsp cornstarch and it was just the right thickness. Next time I plan to add a little alcohol to make it a dessert.
Typo- Please use 2 tsp instead of 2 Tbsp cornstarch. Sorry!
