Flax Bread for Bread Machines

What you need:

9-11 ounces water
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil (canola or peanut preferably)*
2 tablespoon mollasses
2 1/4 cup bread flour
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon vital wheat gluten
1/2 cup organic flax seeds
2 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

What you do:

All ingredients must be at room temperature. (70-80 degrees F, or around 21 degrees C) Use less water in the given range for high altitudes and higher humidity and weather conditions. Add ingrendients to bread pan in the exact order given, making a well in the centre of the dry ingredients to place yeast. Put your bread machine on a whole wheat setting. When finishe'd cooking, place on a wire rack to cool.
* note: using peanut oil will help keep your vegan bread fresher longer

what size bread machine?

Made great bread! I too used 1/4 cup of ground flax seeds instead of 1/2 whole seeds. I'll be making this often  ;)b

Wow, even better than I expected.  I will be making this over and over.  Only thing I changed was used about a 1/4 cup of ground flax seed instead of the whole.  It turned out full, fluffy, tasty, and with perfect texture.
Thanks for posting the recipe!

This bread worked great for me, but I ground the flax seeds. There's no point to eating whole flax seeds (well, it gives you insoluble fiber, but we're vegan, we have enough of that!), and you have to grind them to get the omega 3's out of them anyway. Bread is yummy! thanks!

I just finished making this bread and enjoyed a tasty piece. I made a few changes, instead of oil I used unsweetened applesauce, I only added 1/4 cup whole flax seed instead of 1/2, I used only wheat flour and I also substituted a 1/2 a cup of flour with wheat bran. Excellent flavor and really healthy too.  ;)b

I made this bread yesterday and it turned out perfect.  I only used a quarter cup of flax seeds (golden) based on the other review.
