Easy Flavorful Bagels

What you need:

2 cups whole grain flour
1 cup water
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 tablespoon baking soda

What you do:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Celsius.
2. In a bowl, whisk together all ingredients.
3. Roll the dough and cut it in 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then slightly flatten.
4. Bake for 20 minutes.
Variations:- Tomato bagel: Add 2 tablespoons tomato paste.- Sesame-garlic bagel: Roll dough balls in a mixture of sesame seeds and dried garlic.- Sunflower or Pumpkin Seeds Bagels: Roll dough balls in seeds.
All of them were really good but always one is the best and this time it was the sesame seed with garlic. However the tomato one was nicely moist.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I loved them. I only put a half teaspoon of salt. Added a banana, 1/2 cup more flour, cinnamon and vanilla.

Did not turn out well at all.  Even with half salt it was still very salty, and they were rather hard and chewy.  Tried to balance out the saltiness with a little brown sugar and still too much.  Sort of tastes like soda bread. The dog liked them though.

My question now is.. How do I save 8 bagels from all that salt. ??

I was so excited to see this recipe. I entered my kitchen ingeedients on a web site and it gave me this link. I saw this post by Minke and was a little weary but went ahead anyway. I highly suggest to people that if they are going to comment please be specific. My bages turned out great, however WAY TOO SALTY. I would definately make them again with half the salt or less. I ate like 1/2 a bagel and drank like 3 glasses of water, lol. Thank you for this easy recipe! :)
