Cold Remedy

What you need:

1 lemon, chopped with peel
1 orange, chopped with peel
1 clove garlic, peeled and halved
4 cups water
agave or raw sugar, to taste, optional

What you do:

1. Add lemon, orange, and garlic to water in a pot.
2. Bring to a boil, covered for 30 minutes, and uncovered 15 minutes. You want to try and reduce it to about 1 cup.
3. Strain ingredients, making sure to "mush" the fruit as you go to get all the good stuff out.
4. Sweeten with agave or raw sugar, if desired. I like it without sweetener, but my husband won't drink it alone.
My husband also likes to add some brandy. Enjoy! Drink it at night before bed, and you may not feel any better the next day, but you won't feel worse. If I feel like I am coming down with something respiratory or those around me are sick, I drink it just to make sure. So far, I have avoided the last few colds our kindergarten walking germ factory has brought home.
Source of recipe: A friend of mine told me about this and it's awesome.
