Cashew Gravy

What you need:

2 cups hot water, divided
1/2 cup cashews
2 tablespoons Bragg's liquid aminos
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons nutritional yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt

What you do:

1. Set aside 1 cup hot water. Put everything else in a blender and blend very well, about 5 minutes.
2. Add reserved water and pour into a pan; heat until thickened.
Serve over biscuits, or mix with noodles. I also make a vegetable pot pie using this as the gravy. Delicious!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

this recipie was great and the consistency was perfect.
i doubled it which worked fine.  also i diced and fried mushrooms separately and then added them in as the gravy was cooking and also added some chopped green onion at the very end which turned out well.

This recipe can also easily be used for an "Alfredo Sauce" substitute. It can also work as a "Condensed Mushroom Soup" substitute. I've made the most excellent vegan artichoke Alfredo sauce with it, and SO MANY OTHER things.

This recipe is one of the staples in our household. We put variations of it on biscuits, pasta, mix it with vegetarian meats, etc.

i make a recipe very similar to this, but i add more nutritional yeast and some garlic powder as well.

to really top it off, add some fake chicken broth powder!
