Carrot peas mixture

What you need: 
  • 4-5 medium size carrots/gajar
  • 2 tomatos
  • 1 large potato
  • 1/2 tsp. turmaric
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 or 2 green chilies
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • a few chopped coriander leaves for garnishing (optional)
  •  salt as required
  • hing (asafetida)

 

What you do: 

 

 

Ø  peel, rinse and chop the carrots/gajar and potaos .

Ø  heat oil in a preassure cooker

Ø  add the cumin and fry them.

Ø  add the ginger and green chilies.

Ø  Add turmaric

Ø  Chop tomato and fry togather

Ø  fry for a minute or till the raw smell of the ginger disappears.

Ø  add the carrots and peas/matar along with the salt.

Ø  saute for 3-4 minutes.

Ø  add ½ cup water

Ø  Cover the cooker with the top and wait for 2 vissels .

Ø  Turn off the stove  and let the steam out automatcaly from the cooker (wait for the steam out)

Ø  garnish with coriander leaves and serve gajar matar hot with some chapatti  or parathas.
