2 1/2 cups water + vegetable bullion cube
1 cups lentils
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon basil or oregano
dash nutmeg
1. Heat water with bullion to boiling. Add lentils. Lower heat and simmer 30 minutes.
2. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer another 30 minutes.
Serve with rice.
