Chipped "Beef" and Toast
What you need:
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon non-hydrogenated, vegan margarine
1 cup soy milk
1/2 cup ground "beef" substitute
whole wheat toast
plenty of salt and pepper, to taste
What you do:
Cook the margarine and flour together to make a "roux," after laughing at my appalling French (I never was able to pass my French spelling tests!). When mixture is blonde in colour, add soy milk and whisk briskly to eliminate clumps. Stir in the ground "beef" until the sauce thickens to a gravy consistency. Add salt and pepper to your taste preference; I prefer a ton of both. You can add spices as well, chile powder would add a nice kick, or crushed garlic... I just like it plain, though, like my papa used to make on Sunday mornings :)

SO HOW'D IT GO?
The article says its traditional to serve it in a cream sauce over toast. Sounds yum.
Unfortunately, this is nothing like chipped beef, not eveni n appearance. However, your French is fine.

pretty good, but it's way better with unsweetened soy milk. a little too sweet with regular. added some extra spices to make it more savory and less sweet.
