Stroganoff

What you need:

1 package Healthy Harvest whole wheat rotini or other whole wheat spiral pasta
3 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 large onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, diced
1 8oz package sliced mushrooms
1 12oz package Morningstar Farms grillers
1 pint container Silk soy creamer, plain
3 to 4 tablespoons 807]cornstarch
salt, pepper and basil to taste

What you do:

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet, at medium heat and add garlic sautéing for about a half a minute, and then add the onions. Sauté until golden, and then add the mushrooms and cook through. Add pepper, salt, and basil.
2. Start cooking the pasta according to package directions.
3. Take the creamer and add it in gradually to the mushroom mix. Stir for about three minutes. Add the burger crumbles now. Then take the corn starch and mix it with about a half a cup of lukewarm water. Whisk the mixture with a fork and add gradually as you stir it into the sauce. Turn the heat down to three (or halfway between low and medium) as you continue stirring. *Note: taste after the sauce has finished and add more pepper and seasonings to taste.
4. Once mix has thickened and your pasta has cooked, drain the pasta and mix the sauce into the pasta. Serve in a bowl with toasted bread and some salad on the side.
Enjoy.

This is much too sweet with soymilk

I think the best thing is to use unsweetened soymilk for savoury dishes..

;)b  Yummy!  On the second try, I find this to be very good!  To me, the odd taste it had when I tried it the first time, a few nights ago, was from the creamer.  That's too sweet for this.  I subbed regular Silk Enhanced soy milk for that and with the cornstarch it thickens up plenty.  I didn't add Grillers the other time but I did this time.  I think they, too, seem to have a little sweetness to them so next time (and there will be a next time!) I will either leave that out altogether, because the sauce is very good without it, or try a different brand.  I also added garlic powder and a dash of oregano.  I also halved the recipe and I am now officially stuffed because I like to smother my pasta.  The picture does not reveal the smothering it got off camera.

I just used bowtie pasta I had left over from the first failed try.  Normally, I wouldn't try a recipe with only one mediocre review but the ingredients looked good, in general, and figured just a little tweaking would make it delicious and it turned out to be just that!  I will be making this again.

It's worth trying, IMO, just do NOT use creamer as that is too sweet and will ruin an otherwise perfectly good recipe. :)

Just ok.  The recipe calls for way too much meat, i would at least cut it in half.  It also had a weird taste that i couldn't put my finger on but i used a different brand of cream so maybe it was that, who knows.
