Vegan Ginger Beef
1 package (about 2 cups) vegan beef strips (I used Presidents choice)
Marinade
lemon juice
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cooking wine
1 teaspoon cane sugar
2 tablespoon juice from grated and squeezed ginger
Sauce
1 tablespoon cooking wine
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
4 tablespoon agave nectar
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
2 tablespoon water
chili powder to taste
lemon juice
Coating
Cornstarch
chili oil- optional
1/4 cup flour- optional
1. Combine marinade ingredients in a bowl. Marinate the vegan beef as long as possible, a minimum of 1 hour.
2) Heat a deep fryer or a deep skillet with about an inch of oil. While the oil heats, take the vegan beef and roll in the cornstarch coating. When the deep fryer or frying pan is hot enough (put a tiny bit of water or batter in and if it bubbles then your good), drop in the beef one at a time. Let them cook till crispy on the outside and medium brown. Take the beef out and set on paper towel, getting as much oil off as possible.
3) Heat a saucepan or small non stick frying pan on medium-low and add the sauce ingredients. Cook and stir till hot, then put on minimum.
4) Toss the sauce and with the fried vegan beef and enjoy with stir fry veggies or on rice or noodles!!
