Baked Marinated Tofu

What you need:

1 lb. tofu, firm or extra firm
Marinade: 2/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup oil
2 scallions, sliced (optl)
2 teaspoon dill seed
5 tablespoon lemon juice

What you do:

1)Press tofu to drain off liquid (at least 20 min., but up to 1 hr). Then slice the block into 1/3-1/2 thick slices.
2)Combine all marinade ingredients with a wire whisk.
3)Place tofu slices side-by-side in a glass baking dish and pour marinade over them. Marinade for at least 30 min. at room temp. (or up to 8 hours in the refrigerator).
4)Remove tofu from the marinade and place on an oiled bake sheet. Bake at 425deg. til well-browned, slightly crusty but still creamy within. Turn the slices once during the baking and, if desired, baste with a little more marinade. Baking will take 30-40 min. total.
5)Reserve remaining marinade for future use. Use a glass jar and keep refrigerated.
USE IN STIR-FRIES, STUFFED PITA SANDWICHES, OR TOSSED IN YOUR SALAD.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I've always fried my tofu but baking it was so much more convenient. I put this in my stirfry and it was fab. Thank you!

I am a fan of tofu and really like some baked tofu I've had. I was excited to try making my own though I had my doubts about the amount of soy sauce (and little else) in this recipe.  :-\ Unfortunately, this was super salty and I only marinated it for about 30 minutes. I'll keep looking for a good baked tofu recipe.

don't give up on the tofu, especially if you only tried it once.  I didn't like it the first time, but tried it a different way and it was delicious!!! don't give up!!!
