Lazy and Hungry Tofu plus Broccoli

What you need:

1 teaspoon veggie oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/3 of a 14 oz block extra-firm tofu
1 cup broccoli (approx; I just prepare what I think will feed me)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
sesame seeds (optional)

What you do:

Cut tofu and broccoli into bite-size pieces.
Heat both oils over medium heat in a large skillet. Place tofu pieces in skillet and let cook for 4-5 minutes, or until golden on bottom. Cover for faster cooking.
Flip tofu pieces so that the other side can cook. Add broccoli. Pour soy sauce over tofu and broccoli. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until broccoli is heated through and tofu is browned on the bottom.
Serve immediately over pasta, noodles, or grain of choice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

All I can say is ... where has this been all my life?

this was really good, but i was skeptical of the short ingredient list, so i kept adding things in....  i added green onions and some cabbage, and for seasonings i also added some veg broth, rice wine, garlic and crushed red peppers..  i didn't have sesame seeds so i used  cashews instead.  still easy and really good.  thanks!

I made this recipe for dinner tonight, and not only was it very easy, but it was tasty and satisfying.  Thanks for posting it!  ;)b

this was an awesome whatever's-left-in-the-fridge recipe. i didnt have any sesame oil so i put in some thai peanut sauce near the end, and black pepper to give it some more flavour. i threw in mushrooms, onions, spinach, and green beans, as well as the broccoli. I thought it was a good standalone meal, but just as tasty over rice or noodles. next time i'd maybe add some chili flakes like you guys suggested! MMMM!

I wasn't so lazy with this one!  I sort of planned it and cut up my tofu and marinated it  in a homemade teriyaki sauce with fresh, crushed ginger and garlic while I was at work all day.  Then when I came home I cooked my tofu first then removed from pan, sauteed my veggies (broccoli, zucchini and mushrooms + a little orange juice) took me about 20 min total because my rice was done when my veggies were cooked!  Added my tofu to the mixture and served on rice.  I opted for the sesame seeds!  Thanks for the great recipe, lots of variations which I love!     ;)

show off!

sounds all fancy and delicious.  i wish you could make that for me!  (you know, all fancy and such)

:D My FAVOURITE thing to come home to in the evenings after work now... thanks for making tofu bearable for me! I crumble it up and it goes all crispy and nutty in the sesame oil first.... DEEEEEEEEELISH! thanks again ;)b

Mmmm... this is really good and so flavorful!  I added some yellow and green onions and garlic with a bit of tamari sauce and mixed in some oyster sauce.  ;)b

This is like a culinary panda bear you can hug and still keep your appendages. I think this may be somewhat a staple for me since i always have the ingredients on hand

This was delicious!  I am trying to limit my sodium intake so I used a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon of soy sauce and it was great.  Very healthy, quick, and tasty.

I didn't have any sesame oil so I *subbed* with 1TB of ground white sesame seed.
Firm (momen) Tofu was 200 grams
Broccoli was 200grams
and I added about a 1/2 inch piece of shredded real ginger.

I guess that makes it no longer a 'lazy' version but I was happy. :)
