Vegan Puppy Chow for People
1 box Nature's Path Heritage Bites Cereal (Crispix-style but without the Vitamin D)
1 10 oz bag of vegan chocolate chips (I prefer Tropical Source brand)
1 cup creamy organic peanut butter
organic powdered sugar
Put entire box of cereal in plastic mixing bowl. Place chocolate chips and peanut butter in microwave safe glass bowl and place in microwave for about a minute and a half- stopping half way to stir. Pour mixture over cereal and stir. Once the chocolate mixture is coated evenly over cereal, place cereal in a paper grocery bag and pour in powdered sugar. Fold bag top over and take bag outside to shake. Look inside and see if more powdered sugar is needed. If so, place more in the bag and shake again. Place cereal in a Ziploc bag and let cool in the fridge. Enjoy :)
SO HOW'D IT GO?
We actually mixed ours together in a 13x9 cake pan instead of the paper bag and left it in the cake pan with a fitted lid storing it. delicioso!!!
YUM
but this is the only way I've ever had it, except my family used to put holiday M&M's in it. I can't imagine it without the peanut butter. Just chocolate and butter?? Chocolate needs peanutbutter.
I was looking for a snack for my sweet tooth yesterday and I modified the recipe slightly with what I had on hand. I used about 2 cups of cereal, some peanut butter, and carob chips. The mix didn't melt the way I like so I drizzled in a little soy milk and some vanilla. Mixed it with the cereal and then dumped it in the bag with the powdered sugar. Yummy! Definitely won't eat it every day, but for a little snack it was great. The mix was more than sufficient for 3 people so I am not sure I would make the whole box of cereal.
this is perfect, thank you for sharing! i had been meaning to make a veganized version of puppy chow but i wanted to find a reicipe just in case. it is so easy and so perfect for late night snack-attacks!
this got me thinking that its a great way to use up extra cereal! trader joe o's and puffins or even pb puffins... yum
Sorry if you took it the wrong way. I dont give my dog dark chocolate . I make homemade dog treats with Carob. I like the flavor of it better any how. or if I made this treat as I did using CAROB instead other chocolate chips.
Made this for myself and my dog wanted some of it. Man it was soooo addictive
Tofreak, I think chocolate can make dogs ill...which you might know already, but I thought I might as well mention it in case you didn't.

I made this with my little sister, and it was just like the puppy chow we made with mom when we were kids... except the peanut butter instead of butter makes it healthier *and* more delicious. Excellent variation.
This stuff is terribly addicting. I love it!!!
