Sloppy Lens

What you need:

1 cup of brown/bargain-bag lentils
1 can of Hunts Manwich sauce
2 cups of water
8 slices whole wheat bread or 4 buns

What you do:

1. Rinse, pick through, and drain the lentils.
2. Pour water and lentils into a medium-sized pot, and bring to a boil.
3. After rolling boil is reached, cover the lentils, lower heat, and simmer for about 50 minutes (5 minutes give or take in difference).
4. After lentils are cooked through transfer to a medium saucepan, add the Manwich sauce, mix them together, and heat the mixture through at medium heat.
5. After the mixture is cooked through (this won't take long) get out the bread and serve four equal portions of the mixture over two slices each person of bread.
6. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
NOTE: the recipe is for four people BUT this mix is BIG... rather low in calorie though, so I would recommend eating these with a fork. Or if you prefer a less messy Len, serve it up for more people!

Not my favorite, but my husband LOVED it. So I will be adding this to the dinner rotation.

Love this recipe!!! Unfortunatley though I don't want to anger anybody but according to my math... and ingredients these are 600 calories for the batch not 500... 1 cup lentils @ 80 cal per 1/4 cup dry is 320 plus the can of sauce 40 cal per serving (7) per can is 280... 280 plus 320 is 600.  Still not bad for as much as you get just thought everyone should know. :)

Amazingly simple and good... Though I over cooked the lentils a bit but still great... Taste good even cold... But I Definetly suggest cutting up some Litelife Smartdog Veggie protein links into the sloppy joe mix then just scoop with toast or eat as a sandwhich. ;)b

This turned out great. I have previously tried making sloppy-joes using TVP, but it did not go over too well. This recipe however went over very well. In the future I will probably figure out how to make my own sauce (although the Manwich sauce is great...too bad Con Agra makes it). For now though I will continue to make as is. Thanks a bunch!

I added Marjon brand tofu crumbles - the kind that resembles ground beef -  to the lentils, and for sauce I used a store brand dry packet of sloppy joe seasoning, water, and a 6 oz. can of tomato paste.  I usually make this with just the tofu crumbles, but the addition of lentils was great!  :D
