Nutty Corn Flake Bars

What you need: 

1 1/4 cups light corn syrup
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
6 cups corn flakes (unsweetened variety)
1 cup raw unsalted peanuts (peeled)
1/2 cup raw unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup peanut butter
2-3 ounces vegan chocolate.

What you do: 

Combine the vegan sugars and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat until the vegan sugars dissolve. Be sure to NOT let it boil. You do NOT want to cook it to that high a temperature. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in corn flakes, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. Pat it into a large baking pan which is coated with cooking spray. Melt chocolate and drizzle over the the cereal mixture. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
I wish I could take complete credit for this recipe, but it was actually found on the back of a cereal box. I made a few alterations to suit vegans. It is wickedly good and the texture is quite palatable unlike some vegan cereal bars which tend to be brittle. Good luck!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

HOLY CRAP!! I made these the other day and they didn't last long. These are awesome. I also wasn't sure what to do with the peanut butter, but I threw it in with the melted sugars and made sure it got nice and creamy then followed the rest of the recipe. Highly recommend this with some melted vegan chocolate drizzled  on top.

What is the "1 cup peanut butter" for?  I don't see it mentioned in the recipe.

mine came out very brittle and very sugary.  The brittleness didn't mind me that much, I don't know if this was because I substituted corn syrup with sugar water mix Oh and I added some flax meal and some oatmeal, yeah that's probably what did it but I added that stuff because as I tried it when it was warm these were intensely sugary (and I'm loovvve sugar, I'm not one of those wimpy health nuts :)  but this was just way too intense for me.  I think I might just add soy milk to it and eat it as cereal, anyway you got me to use the rest of this cereal that I didn't like all that much. 

It definitely was my fault for the brittleness though (I added some protein powder, flax meal, and oat meal)
