Mushroom Gravy

What you need:

1/2 cup dried mushrooms, chopped into small pieces
1/2 cup boiling water
1 1/2 tablespoons margarine
1 small onion, diced
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup strong broth

What you do:

1. Hydrate your chopped mushrooms with the boiling water. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes. Melt margarine in a small-medium saucepan over medium heat.
2. Sauté the onion lightly. Dont brown too much. Add the flour, and stir constantly with a wooden spoon until frothy. Do not let it burn! Add the mushrooms and their liquid and your vegetable broth.
3. Cook over medium heat to a boil, stirring constantly. After it comes to a boil, turn the heat down a bit and let thicken.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I agree, Amazing!  I didn't have dehydrated mushrooms.  I used a combination of fresh button, shitake, crimini, and portabella.  I also added salt and fresh ground pepper.  I make my own veggie stock out of veggie scraps that I save in the freezer so every time is just a little different but always delicious.

I made this, but kind of just winged it on the amounts for ingredients , and i added some minced garlic too... it was amazing. and then i used a little of it to saute some Gardein beefless tips :)

Like ladywyntir, I've been making potatoes a few times a week but never making gravy for it. The gravy was phenomenally delicious. I will absolutely be making it again.
