Maine Bread

What you need:

3 1/2 cups very warm water
2 tablespoon sugar or molasses
2 tablespoons dry baking yeast
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon salt
about 7 1/2 cups flour

What you do:

1. Put water in large bowl. Add vegan sugar and yeast. Add vegetable oil and salt. Let set for a few minutes to allow yeast to dissolve and become active (5 minutes).
2. Next, stir in enough flour to make dough thick (like mud). Then gradually add flour 1 cup or less at a time until dough is fairly stiff. Knead on a floured counter.
3. Oil a bowl, and place ball of dough in it upside down, then turn right side up. Cover bowl with towel. Let rise until doubled in size. Grease 3 bread pans.
4. After rising, punch down dough. Turn out on counter and cut into three sections. Shape sections into loaves and place in prepared bread pans. Let rise about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and bake about 30 minutes.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I live in Maine and I don't know what makes this particularly Maine-ish. But sounds delicious. I'm about to make it!
