Japanese Style Pickles and Rice

What you need:

1 cup of sour pickles
1 1/2 cups of soy sauce
sticky rice (enough for about 4 servings)

What you do:

Drain and rinse the pickles.
Pour the soy sauce into a jar or plastic coverable container.
Pour the pickles into the jar and leave in the fridge overnight.
Serve with hot rice the next day, but make sure to keep the pickles cold! It sounds strange, but its delicious!

Preparation Time:
2 minutes
Cooking Time:
Servings:
3-4

SO HOW'D IT GO?

interesting... I've never heard of this, but maybe it's a method for making homemade Japanese pickles - tsukemono.  I think tsukemono are usually made from raw vegetables, but maybe this is a short cut to start with "sour pickles" and soak them in soy sauce. If I were going to try this, I'd avoid the usual cucumber pickles and get a jar if Italian-style mixed vegetable pickles, that include cauliflower and carrots and stuff.  Or I'd just buy some tsukemono from an Asian market  ;) and eat it with hot rice, which, as the recipe says, is really delicious.
