the easiest vegan country gravy ever.
1/4 cup bragg's amino acids or tamari
1 cup vegetable broth (I use concentrated broth packets from Trader Joe's)
2 cups biscuit mix (I use heart healthy Bisquick)
2 tablespoons seasoning mix including garlic and savory (I use 21 seasoning)
1 garlic clove, minced or garlic powder, to taste
salt and pepper, to taste
1. Bring vegetable broth and bragg's to slow boil on medium high heat.
2. Add bisquick while whisking, or sift into broth to avoid clumps. Bring to rapid boil and remove from heat.
3. Add seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper, and whisk.
4. I like my gravy hearty and not completely smooth, but if large clumps occur, throw into a blender on low setting to puree and maintain thickness.
Now smother on vegan biscuits or mashed potatoes! Yumyumyum. Add sauteed onions and mushrooms if time is no matter.
Source of recipe: I have been craving biscuits and gravy, but never attempted to reinvent it, assuming that it simply could not be done without drippings. It was my first attempt, and a successful one in my kitchen.
SO HOW'D IT GO?
