Buff Tempeh Wings

What you need:

1 (8 ounce) package tempeh, cut in 1" squares
12 ounces hot sauce (I use Frank's red hot or Louisiana hot sauce)
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
3/4 cup olive oil
flour, as needed
nondairy milk, as needed
oil, for frying

What you do:

1. Marinate tempeh in hot sauce for at least 30 minutes. For buffalo sauce, combine hot sauce marinade, Tabasco, garlic, and cayenne pepper. Slowly add oil to emulsify.
2. Dredge tempeh in flour, then milk, then more flour.
3. Bring 1/4" oil in a saute pan to a shimmer. Add breaded tempeh and cook all sides until golden brown.
4. Place tempeh in a mixing bowl and toss in sauce until fully coated. Enjoy.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I saved this recipe in case of emergency. Then today I had a chicken wing craving and Buff Tempeh Wings saved me! Seriously. I was surprised how tastey they were. The smaller the better. Not a staple (cuz you know it's pub food) but definately a replacement for those times I feel like chicken wings. Thank you :)

This was the first recipe I ever used that called for tempeh (I wasn't even sure I was pronouncing it correctly at the time), and I'm so glad. It's really simple, and they taste fricken delicious! They turn out great every time. Even my picky boyfriend looooves them, we make em all the time now. Thank you for this recipe.

Thank you!  I wanted to find a vegan wing to make but didn't want to use a fry method!  I am going to try baking!  The recipe sounds so delicious!!  I am hoping my wing loving husband will try them!

This is the first recipe I am reviewing, so I hope it looks right!  I loved this recipe.  I made it exactly like the recipe, except I cut down the marination time.  It was so tasty!  I will make this quite often.  :)>>>

Tried this out tonight and it was great! I forgot to marinate the tempeh but it was still awesome. I used earth balance spread and melted it. Then I added Louisiana Hot sauce to whip up a gnarly buffalo type sauce for the coating afterward. Sweet Nectar. Good call on this recipe. It was the highlight of the week in my kitchen!
