Brandi's Famous Caramel Apple Pie!

What you need: 

1 pie crust
3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced very thinly Caramel topping:
1/2 cup vegan butter
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water

What you do: 

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Pile apple slices in pie crust, and lattice crust over top of pie.
2. In a saucepan, bring caramel topping ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for five minutes.
3. Pour caramel over top of pie so that it seeps into the apples and covers the lattice.
4. Bake for 15 minutes uncovered, then cover with foil and continue to back at 350 degrees F for another 35-45 minutes.

Best pie I have ever made or eaten. I signed up for this site just to tell you! Bravo! Eat warm with vanilla ice cream! 

For the crusts you need two. I used the Marie Callendar's (comes with two). Flip one over for the top. No need to lattice just slice air holes.

This was my first apple pie and it turned out delicious!  I used 3 Apples but I wish I would've used at least one more.  I used about 2/3 of the caramel sauce and saved the rest to put over the ice cream. Yum yum yum!


I made a very healthy sort of apple tart version of this with a nut crust (pecans and walnuts)
I subbed agave for the sugar, put just a little canola instead of the vegan butter, and baked it for much less time
I thought it would taste a little strange considering how much I changed things for health reasons, but it was great, the caramel sauce was so delicious.
I used whole wheat flour and next time I'll try either soy or coconut flour, I think.
Will be making this again as soon as I buy some more apples

I used gala apples which are already sweet so I only added the 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Made a lattice pie crust and dusted some cinnamon on top. It was delicious! Definitely want to try granny smith apples next time (:

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was delicious!! I used a simple home made crust cause I could't find any vegan friendly brands at my local grocery store...It was simple and looked gourmet!


So, I had an epic memory fail while making the caramely delicious sauce: I forgot to turn the heat down. Now, let me tell you, it turned out so much more thick and so much less grainy than last time. I had to add more water to thin it out enough to even cover the top of the pie. Once it's out of the oven, we shall see if it's better than the first time. I was like "what on earth..." before I noticed the heat thing... I thought it was because I used different margerine :p. This recipe is full of surprises and is ever so forgiving. Mmmm <3


This is the best apple pie I have ever had, vegan or otherwise. I am in love. I also totally dig the caramel sauce... Oh my god, it is delicious. I so badly wanted to eat my warm pie with vegan vanilla ice cream, but unfortunately I'm a little on the broke side and couldn't afford to jump in my car and pick some up on a whim :p. But if I were still pregnant, you'd best believe that I would have found a way. 5 stars! Bravo! Hooray!

Consumers note: eating this before bed gave me really weird dreams and a small hint of indegestion. So worth it, but, you have been warned.


this tasted great. However, I would prefer not to use so much margarine. My crust calls for 1/2 cup of margarine too, and I feel that 1 cup of margarine is just too much. So I think next time I will cut the margarine back. I may cut back some of the sugar too, even though it tasted great, I would like it to be a little less guilt inducing.


This was really good, but I found it a wee bit too sweet. This could have been my fault though, because I made tarts and used this as filling as opposed to a whole pie.
