Blender Waffles with Rolled Oats

What you need: 

2 cups rolled oats
2 cups water
1 banana, sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

What you do: 

1. Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions. Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth.
2. Pour batter into waffle iron.
3. Cook, according to directions.
Enjoy with your favorite syrup or fresh fruit. Enjoy! This recipe is super quick and turns out great. I make it for my family and they love it!

Cut the water down by half... OR add some WW flour.
Otherwise, very good and easy!


I forgot to mention I also replaced the water with rice milk, for added nutrition.


those are excellent, but like other reviewers, I had to add about 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour to make the batter a bit thicker, and I replaced the banana by about 1/3 cup of applesauce , and finally, I added 1/3 cup chocolate chips because I'm just that big of a chocaholic.


I thought these were great and I forgot to take the picture of them.  I added about half a cup of flour to the recipe, or until it seemed to be the right consistancy.  I also added a good amount of cinnimon.  Yummy!


I love the idea of blender waffles and these came out lighter than the ones from another recipe I have that uses millet and buckwheat.  I used thick cut rolled oats and I did not think the batter was too thin. They also had a very nice taste and aroma, as the other posters mentioned.  HOWEVER, they failed to cook thoroughly in my deep belgian waffle maker.  Even when I left them in there forever til the thin crispy parts were very cripsy--the thicker parts were still goopey on the inside.  I think if there were some leavener in the batter it would help.

It is worth trying to perfect this recipe.  It was very easy and healthy and the part that cooked properly was tasty.


definately a keeper! I added a handful of pecans too which made it a little thick so I had to add a little more water. It was delicious though and healthy. Oh yes and I didn't have bananas so  I used applesauce instead.


I was skeptical of this recipe at first, but VERY curious to see how it would work :) And let me tell you, these are DELICIOUS! They have a wonderful scent while cooking and turn out very light & fluffy. I think the next batch I make will include some cinnamon for fun :)

Also, I added one cup of flour to the mix because it was much too watery. Although cutting down on the water might work, too.. Either way, these are worth a shot when you are low on flour but have *lots* of oatmeal ;D
