Awesome Vegan Ranch Dressing

What you need:

1/2 cup nondairy milk (I use Edensoy vanilla or regular flavor)
1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise (I use Nasoya Nayonaise)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2-3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon dried or fresh parsley, finely chopped
salt and pepper, to taste

What you do:

Mix all ingredients in food processor.
This recipe tastes totally like the regular Ranch dressings on shelves in supermarkets. Everybody loves it and they all want the recipe hearing that it is vegan and so much healthier for you. I use it on salads, brown rice, baked potatoes, steamed veggies and a little thicker (add a bit more Nayonaise) as a veggie dip for raw vegetables. For the vegetable dip, I omit the red wine vinegar.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I use lemon juice, rather than vinegar, when making vegan ranch dressing (and sometimes I don't even add lemon juice).  I also recommend using unsweetened plain soy or almond milk, definitely not vanilla.

Wow, I didn't expect to get a response so quickly...thanks for the advice!  I'll give it a whirl and post the results.  :)

This isn't a review, more of a question.  I'm EXTREMELY allergic to the sulfites found in wine and products made from wine (i.e. balsamic vinegar).  Do any of you know if there is anyone who makes a sulfite-free red wine vinegar, or if not, a good substitute for red wine vinegar?  I'd really like to try this recipe, but until I can find a good sulfite-free product or a reasonable substitute, I can't try it.  Thanks in advance!

Mmmm.  I was so sad when Hidden Valley stopped carrying a vegan ranch dressing/dip mix.  I basically gave up on Ranch Dressing.  Now I have renewed faith in humanity!  This dressing is so good.  I tweaked it just a little by halving the soymilk and vinegar and adding a pinch of cayenne.  I'll probably try a few of the other recommended changes in the future, too. This recipe makes me sooo happy!! Now, off to make seitan wings!

I basically make this all the time now.  ;)b

But I don't really follow the recipe...my base for a quick dressing for one is usually about 1T veganaise, a couple splashes red wine vinegar and a couple splashes soy milk. I also omit the pepper.

But yeah, wonderful recipe! I always tried to use apple cider vinegar which never quite worked right...the red wine vinegar is the way to go!

This dressing is delicious! Mine was a little sweet, so I added a bit more onion and garlic powder. I gave it to my family (all meat eaters) and they were raving about it. They were completely shocked when I started eating it too.

Amazing! U made life worth living! LOL... Anywayz... I love ranch and i can't believe you discovered such an amazing vegan version! I only use 1 tbsp red wine vinegar and like twice the vegan mayo so the ranch is not too runny... but its awesome anyway you make it... I dont even measure out the ingredients anymore and it turns out flawless every time! Thank you <3

Sorry, I did not like this recipe. Could be because I'm such a new vegan (only a few weeks) and a huge ranch dressing fan that it just didn't come close to doing ranch justice. I did find an excellent recipe at veganchef.com. This is a good dip/dressing, but it's not ranch.

I'm newly vegan (only a few months) and did not like this. It may have beenbetter if I would have used regular soy milk instead of vanilla soy milk, it tasted waaaayyyy to sweet. So if I try it again I will use regular soy milk.

Woah...I just made vegan ranch dressing! And it's awesome! I followed the advice of others and only used 1/4 cup of vanilla soy milk and 1 tbs of vinegar. I dipped my pinky in when it was all mixed and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it actually tastes like ranch dressing. Oh yeah, I also used Veganeise. So yeah...I currently have it in a jar in the fridge, and I'm gonna take it back to college with me. I can't wait to try it with some vegan buffalo chicken strips! (my favorite dish back in my non-vegan days)
