Asparagus with Garlic and Sesame

What you need:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 bunch fresh asparagus
3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
2 pinches sesame seeds

What you do:

1. Chop the bottom tips off the asparagus, and if you want to go buck wild, use a potato peeler to peel the tough skin off the bottom inch or two of the stalks. Heat up the oil in a pan big enough for the asparagus to lie comfortably.
2. Toss in the asparagus. After thirty seconds or so, mix in the garlic. Then add the sesame seeds. Dont cook the asparagus too long.
3. Take it off the heat as soon as it starts to soften. Serve immediately.

Preparation Time:
10 minutes
Cooking Time:
Servings:
2-4

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I will definitely attempt this again because it seems like it should be delicious. However I made the mistake of using canned asparagus and it came out as mush. Definitely use the fresh that it calls for in the recipe.

I think most people who have never had steamed asparagus are surprised about how good it really is, especially if you work with it and season it a bit. A fantastic recipe for fitting in some fiber! (It does help that I love garlic!)

I am going to try this tonight with canned asparagus.  It should be quick and easy.  Thanks for the great south beach friendly recipe.

This was very simple to make and very tasty. I steamed the asparagus for 10 minutes before cooking it in the pan. It turned out perfect!
