Tofu:
1 pound firm tofu, drained and sliced thickly
1/8 cup soy sauce
1/8 cup olive oil
dash vegan worcestershire, optional Balsamic sauce, optional:
4-6 tablespoons olive oil
4-6 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1. Press sliced tofu with a towel for a bit to try to get off excess water. For tofu marinade, mix soy sauce, olive oil, and vegan worcestershire (if using) in container.
2. Marinate tofu. When you are tired of waiting (5 minutes or 5 hours), preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place tofu on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for about 15 minutes, then flip tofu.
3. Bake another 15 minutes, and flip tofu. Now you get the idea. Repeat until it's crispy on the edges. If tofu isn't cooking around the edges, you can turn up the heat to 400 degrees F, but watch that you don't cook it too long.
4. If making the balsamic sauce, simply mix 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar for each sandwich.
Enjoy this tofu and sauce on a sandwich, throw on a salad, in a wrap, or snack on it. You will love it, it is so easy.
Source of recipe: Inspired by a restaurant in Salt Lake City where we could get balsamic vinegar tofu sandwiches! We have no idea how they made it, but we're pretty close!
