1/2 package already prepared chicken flavored seitan, the kind in a container of liquid
1 small onion sliced or chopped thinly
nutritional yeast flakes
olive or other oil for sauteing
This recipe is so simple, and I think it's really delicious.
Pat seitan pieces with paper towel or whatever way you use to dry them off. Heat a few tablespoons of ghee or oil in a fry pan. I use a combination of butter and olive oil (I'm not vegan but I'm gettin' there). Saute the onion on medium high heat till it just starts to get clear.
Dredge the seitan pieces in nutritional yeast flakes -it takes maybe 1/8 cup or so to do this. Add the seitan to the onions and continue to saute about 5 - 10 minutes more depending how browned you like things.
Remove from heat and Serve!! I had it tonight with some steamed cabbage and new potatoes, an ear of corn on the cob and a salad. Yumm-o!!
