1/2 block tempeh (Lightlife brand works well)
liquid smoke to taste, about 1 teaspoon
ketchup to taste, about 2 teaspoons
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
Braggs or other soy sauce
1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional)
Place a large skillet on medium high heat.
While it's heating, slice a block of tempeh in half, then slice one of the halves in very thin strips. Once the skillet is preheated, add the oil, then the tempeh in and let cook until golden brown and crispy.
Whilst the tempeh is cooking, mix all the other ingredients, except the nutritional yeast, in a small bowl.
Once the tempeh is crispy, turn off heat, dump the liquid mixture on top, let soak in, then sprinkle with yeast.
This is a good tempeh bacon recipe because it doesn't need to be marinated, so it's ready fairly quickly.
Serve as a TLT, or just by itself. Play around with the measurements as well to suit your taste.
