1/3 cup nutritional yeast flakes
2/3 cup nondairy milk
1-2 cups bread crumbs (depending on how bready you like them)
Italian seasoning, to taste
1 pound extra firm tofu, frozen, thawed, squeezed, and sliced to 1/2" strips
oil, for frying
marinara sauce, for dipping
1. In a bowl combine the yeast flakes and milk. Make sure the mix is runny, yet somewhat thick, so that you can coat the tofu and it doesn’t slide right off.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs and seasonings. Coat the tofu in the yeast mixture and then in the bread crumbs. Do this until all the tofu is breaded.
3. Heat up the oil in a pan and lightly fry the tofu until it is brown on both sides. Serve with marinara sauce or any other dipping sauce that you like!
