1 cup brown sugar
1 cup tomato puree
1/4 cup water
2 cups bread cubes
1/4 cup vegan butter, melted
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spray small casserole dish with nonstick spray.
2. Combine brown vegan sugar, tomato puree, and water. Cook 5 minutes.
3. While tomato mixture is cooking, put vegan bread cubes in prepared casserole and pour butter over.
4. Top with piping hot tomato mixture. Bake for 50 minutes.
This is an old German recipe that makes a delicious side dish. It puffs up during baking but will fall once out of the heat. A great comfort dish on a cold evening!
