1 teaspoon olive oil
1 cup chopped onion

1 tablespoon fresh or 2 teaspoons dried basil
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
2 cans of diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Sicilian Style: Add 1/2 lb. vegan burger crumbles, 1/4 cup golden raisins, and top with 2 teaspoons toasted pine nuts.
