1 block of tofu (1lb =454g) - extra firm
1 onion
4 garlic cloves
1 tsp of turmeric
1 Tbsp of soya sauce or tamari
1 Tbsp of nutritional yeast
1 Tbsp of olive oil
Example of toppings to add: 1 or 2 tomatoes + 1 green pepper
Step 1 - Preparation
-press, squeeze for a few seconds the tofu block between paper towel to remove excess liquid
-shred it into small pieces
-chop onions in slices
-chop the garlic cloves
-chop the tomatoes in small pieces
Step 2 - cooking
heat the oil
- stir in the chopped garlic
- stir in the sliced onions until golden (5 min)
- stir in the shredded tofu and cook for 2 min
- add 1 tsp of turmeric powder
- add 1 Tbsp of soya, cook 1-2 min
- add 1 Tbsp of nutritional yeast, cook 1-2 min
Now you can add any vegetable that you feel like. I like the combination of tomatoes and green pepper for the color and taste.
