Has anyone tried to make...? (Rice Krispie Squares)

Rice Krispie Squares? There are no vegan marshmallows available in my area so I was wondering what success people have had with other methods?

Could you sub brown rice syrup or agave nectar instead of corn syrup?
What other alterations would need to be made?

you also could use smuckers marshmallow ice cream topping it's vegan but not very good for you ;)

It's vegan???????? really????? OMG! I'm going to go get a bottle of that right now!!!! If you use that stuff do you need to use soy butter too? or just the marshmellow topping? I really miss RKT for some reason-- :(

I might try that too, thanks PIP. For some reason the corn syrup recipe didn't appeal to me. Capture, I'd still use margarine too.

I just hope that there is some of the marshmellow left in the jar by the time the rest of the stuff is ready... :P

I wouldn't sub agave... but i think you can use brown rice syrup... I remember reading about someone using it in some of the other blogs about vegan RKTs .... the flavor might be a bit different?

I've had success making Rice Krispie Treats using a tub of RiceMellow Creme Fluff. It took an overnight in the fridge to set, but damn they were good!

oh, and you only needed some Earth Balance, the tub of Ricemellow & the rice krispies... simple & tasty!

How much vegan butter, rice krispie cereal and Smucker's marshmallow topping did you use for your treats?

I tried the corn syrup version and the sweetness was a little to overwhelming.

I followed the direction on the box and just used 1 jar of the marshmellow topping instead of the bag of marshemellows it says to use--they taste really good--but they don't set--so they are kind of messy to eat--but they are still delish!

Thanks for that, Capture. I don't mind messy as long as they taste good.

They do taste good--but just so you know--they taste best right after you finish making them--once they go into the fridge they get a soggy taste to them :( but it's still worth the effort!
