Totally Raw, Totally Awesome Tacos

What you need:

Raw paté:
1 cup raw pecans
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon coriander
2 teaspoons Nama Shoyu
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon dried ground jalapeno pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3 tablespoons water Tacos:
1 to 2 heads romaine lettuce, whole leaves removed
1-2 tomatoes, chopped
1 avocado, diced
handful sprouts
1 lime

What you do:

1. Blend all paté ingredients in a blender or food processor until chopped, but not fully blended.
2. Lay a piece of lettuce on a plate. Dollop on the raw paté and cover with tomatoes, avocado, sprouts, and a squeeze of lime.
Source of recipe: These are my favorite! My hubby said he'd prefer the paté with a little more water to smooth out the nut mixture. But I think the choppiness of this is perfect. So try it this way, then if you don't like it add a few more tablespoons of water. I've researched lots of raw taco recipes and these are the best.

Wow were these ever GOOD!!!  I didnt use Shoyu and I used raw cashews instead of pecans.  Added a touch of garlic salt and used lime juice in the pate along with chopped cilantro.

Delish!

This was very good, and very filling!  In place of Shoyu I used plain old soy sauce and instead of sunflower seeds I used tahini because I didn't have any sunflower seeds and I didn't add any salt because the soy sauce added plenty.  It was a very Low carb meal, good for a diet.  ;)b

Thanks for the recipe.  I posted a pic of my dinner.  I had a flax muffin, kiwi and baby carrots on the side, with this spread, cucumbers and tomatos on a romain lettuce leaf.  Yummy!

What is Nama Shoyu?

And does the recipe need it, or can I sub it with something else?

I have made this recipe 6+ times now and served them to several of my coworkers. EVERYONE loved them...and these are ladies who make authentic Mexican food! I've also used this recipe to make a raw taco salad, adding my own quacamole and a homemade vinaigrette dressing. You don't have to be raw to love this one. Meat eaters will be amazed. Delicious!

Delicious! I didn't have any cumin, so used some cayenne pepper and some garlic as well...YUMMY! My friend looked at me like I was crazy as I piled this into a wrap (my lettuce leafs kept breaking) along with avocado, salsa, sprouts, onion and yellow pepper...delicious! I have leftovers, and even though it's only 10:30am I'm counting down the minutes until I can eat the rest!

These were really yummy. I used cashews instead of pecans because I didn't have any pecans, but they were still great. I also had no jalapeno spice, so I just chopped up some fresh jalapenos and tossed them in. My only complaint was that I think there was a little too much avocado. I think 1/2 an avocado per person would be better. Thank you!

Tried this recipe today and it was good.  I wouldn't use as much cumin in mine the next time though.  Very fresh and surprisingly filling!!

This recipie was the bomb!
I was hesitant, my 14 year old agreed to try it even if it wasn't cooked and did not have cheese!  ;)b
I did make a few changes I doubled the amount of Pate ingredients, To make it for 4.

I used pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower, added 3 cloves of garlic and 3 key limes to the pate.
I also used onions in toppings.

I was afraid that it would not be filling or satisfying.  I was wrong.
VERY filling Delicious!
Family favorite, I have been demanded by daughter and husband that I must make this again!
The 8 and 10 year old now want to eat it too!
Will make this one over and over and over again!

Thank you!
