Thanks for this! I will definitely try but will likely put in my dehydrator that way i can leave the house and also not use as much electricity. I'll update soon.
YUM. i love that this just uses agave nectar as a sweetener
THANKS FOR REPLYING SO FAST!! Sea of Green responded to the message and you guys both said the same thing. See, I've never heard of just eating granola so I just assumed this granola would be clustered or something, but all is good! It still tastes amazing and I ate it as just granola this morning. A new thing for me! :D I'm thinking about eating it with some yogurt tomorrow, then my friend wants to mix it with peanut butter and makes balls, then there's always oatmeal and just eating it as it is. Either way awesome recipe and sorry for misinterpreting it. Yummy in my tummy, my bowels are happy. :D
I AM SUPER SAD NOW!! I saw all of these awesome comments and decided to try this. It did not turn out well. The oats are not sticking together. Here is what I did...please give me some advice! I will make this into oatmeal if I have to, but I really wanted some awesome granola bars. HELP:
2 cups rolled oats (ran out of them)
1/2 cup instant oats
1/3 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup agave nectar
1/3 cup flax seeds
3/4 cup raisins/pomegranate craisins
2 tbs cinnamon
3 tbs wheat germ
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, etc). Spread evenly onto a large baking sheet. Bake in 300 degrees F oven for 15 minutes, stirring mixture every 5 minutes. waited 5 mins, stirred and popped back in oven, waited 5 mins, stirred and put back in oven, waited 5 mins, stirred add raisins and craisins ( let cool)
I just let it sit because I figure "maybe it's not sticking because the nectar needs to dry"....well yeah like hours later it ain't workin! :(((( Help. :D
Benni, I haven't made this, but I think this is just a recipe for granola (the kind you eat in a bowl like cereal), not granola bars. Are you trying to make it into granola bars? If so, those recipes usually have a stronger binder than agave, like ground-up flax seeds mixed with water. If you want bars, there are tons of recipes on this site!
Maybe I misunderstood what you're looking for - hopefully others will chime in to help you. Sorry you weren't happy with the results!

DELISH!! I didn't want to overdo it with too many flavors so in addition to the above (and I used honey) I added a handful of raw pumpkin seeds and a handful each of dried bananas and apples chopped. Tres superb!
Instant, also called quick oats, are a type of rolled oats. They are rolled oats that have just been refined for, well, quicker cooking :p. Non-instant are what I guess you would call 'regular rolled oats'. They are wider and a little bigger in overall diameter, because they haven't been chopped up. Hope this helped! ;)b
I have a kinda dumb question but here it goes...
how can you tell the difference between non-instant and instant oats? Are non-instant oats called rolled oats? I get my oats from a bulk section of my store and I gotta say I have no idea which is which lol.
Thanks!!
