Hey, this tastes like sour cream!

What you need:

1 (12 ounce) box silken firm tofu (I use MoriNu light)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt

What you do:

Blend everything in a blender. Serve.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was very good I did use just regular silken tofu from the cooler case. It was a little watery but still had a good taste. Next time I will try the recipe using the Nori brand shelf stable stuff and see if it makes a difference.

This was really good! I couldn't find firm silken tofu, so I just used regular silken tofu, but other than that I followed the recipe exactly. The taste is definitely similar to Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream. It's very light and refreshing, a perfect companion to the TVP tacos I made tonight!

Really like this, very easy to make and healthy too. Put it atop avocados and salsa on my homemade nachos the other day. Now I just have to learn to make easy homemade vegan cheese one of these days Cool

I can not confirm or deny that I followed this recipe EXACTLY.  I remember using measuring cups, though, so the vinegar and lemon juice should be exact.  It's possible I used firm silken tofu as opposed to soft silken tofu.

I didn't eat this concoction straight up, sour cream style.  I used it in a recipe that called for sour cream, and it served its purpose well.

Kudos to you, fake sour cream!

OMG This is awesome! As a born again vegan and a former dairy lover I was shocked at how good this is. Even my omni-mom, who despises the taste of tofu, was impressed. Can't wait to top my vegan enchilada casserole with it.  ::)

I like this sour cream sub the best. I usually make the  "tofu sour cream" recipe from this site because it's good, however this tastes better to me, and I dont miss the oil and sugar from the other recipe.Nor do I miss the high price of Tofutti.
I was able to taste the lemon within, but i wasnt bothered by it, though I know some may be. 1/4 cup is a lot of lemon juice, but there are no complaints from me. :P I ate it with baked potatoes, chili, shreddified follow your heart cheese and green onions and it was quite the special occasion. Thanks for the recipe!!

Hmm, I don't know...

I tried this tonight and I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. It did have a pleasing sourness to it that real sour cream has but the soybean flavor that lingered, I did not like. I didn't use Mori-nu tofu however which may be the reason why it wasn't up to par. I'll try it again with the correct brand of tofu next time!

Before my family became vegans the sour cream was more like a side dish than a topping.  This recipe had the same effect! But this time I enjoyed watching it all disappear. ;)
