Aloe and green tea moisturizer
a nice, light, easily absorbed moisturizer. I have bad combination skin (dry and acne prone), and this is moisturizing without being greasy. It is fine under makeup, and doesn't make makeup look shinier like some moisturizers. However, I hate the packaging -- a pump would be much more sanitary. I use it at night only, because it doesn't have sun protection. It's gentle enough to use under the eyes. (rkathleen)

Hold style cream
I think it was $8.99 for 4 ounces. It was definitely under $10 at my hfs. Alba Style Cream keeps my hair up and out. It creates a bit of a "crust," but if I scrunch my hair a little after it's dry my hair becomes closer to being normally soft - moreso than with any of the waxes I've used. The hold isn't as secure as the Nanowax so I'm not sure if it'd do a fauxhawk, but for short hair it works well enough to be a less expensive alternative to Nanowax. (hh)
Sport sunblock SPF 45 Very Emollient
I like this so far. I'm not positive how affective it is, but it's not greasy, or stinky. It's nice and light. I'm ok with how it works, but it doesn't seem SUPER protective. (AC)

Baking soda
(armpits) I've used it for almost two years now...works great. I just pat some (dry) on. I found when I started mixing with water, I would mix too much water in, and it wouldn't be as effective. (AC)
Miracle in the kitchen and bathroom. I've been a stinky person most of my life, sweating a lot during sports, and I've tried all the "clinical" and super strength deodorants, switched them every couple of weeks, everything! And I could never get any help. Then I decided to try the baking soda as deodorant, and I swear it changed my life! I run and sweat a lot, and this has never let me down. I don't sweat as much anymore, I don't smell after runs anymore, and now I don't wash my running clothes as often, because they don't smell! I can't talk about this enough, and I've told anyone that will listen this is the way to do deodorant. I do mix it with some cornstarch, because the baking soda can be a bit abrasive when you're applying it to your pits. I mix them together in a little jar and sprinkle out a little after a shower, add a drop of water, make a paste, and you're good to go. (veganrun)
(face) THIS IS THE BEST FACE 'WASH.' I haven't had a real break out in months, and this is the first thing that has worked this well in...like the 11 years that I've had acne. I seriously only get tiny bumps that usually go away as soon as I wash my face again. I had one small break out right before my period, but that's to be expected. I love this. I just splash my face with water, dab some baking soda (usually mixed with cornstarch, because it's the same I use for armpits) on fingers, rub over face, and rinse. At least try it. (AC)
(hair) it's all ive been using for the past couple months (aside from conditioner once in awhile) and i love it. and by 'past couple months' i mean i use it 1 to 2 times a week - usually 1.. it's awesome & theres no waste. i just mix a couple tablespoons of it with a splash of water to make a paste and that's it.. my hairs super clean. (ppc)
I've been doing this also, but with a vinegar rinse, and I love it. I use it 2-3 times per week, and agree with ppc. (AC)
I recently (after a few months) had to stop using baking soda for hair, because I just couldn't get a good ratio. My hair was either feeling weird/dryish, or greasy and matted. (AC)

I use it every day, and like it. I regularly use the "light." I'm naturally fair skinned, and I have imperfections, and the light works well. I think the key is to "buff" it in, instead of just brushing it on. If you have lighter skin, I think the light would work. The fairly light didn't seem to give me enough coverage. I also have some golden medium that doesn't look bad, but I'm saving it for when I get a bit tanned. I buy all of mine on eBay..a lot less expensive. The 9g is the big one, the 2 g is small. I also have one of the blushes, and I really like it. (AC)
One of the girls asked about the difference between bare mineral and bare essentuals ... while they are the same company ... their products that are marked "bare minerals" and pure minerals .... the one's marked "bare escentuals" are not exactly 100% natural ... they also have another breakoff line "buxom" they're not all natural either .... and lastly ... they have come out with a new line of lipsticks that are 100% naturals however they might have beeswax ... i don't know for sure .... so i can't say if they are ALL vegan. I don't use this often, but I think when I do..my hair is extra soft? I only use it if I have a few tangles. I don't think it leaves my hair too greasy. I guess I don't notice much about my hair..it does help with tangles, though. (AC)

Hugo Naturals French Lavender Body Butter: like!!
Funny thing tho-- at least funny to me, maybe i'm missing something?!-- the label says 'gluten free and vegan!' Um, yeah, so: if you have celiac disease, it's still ok to eat this lotion. ;D
I'm not as good at label-reading for cosmetic/ grooming products as for food; is this as bizarre as it seems to me? DO some lotions use gluten, and would it matter at all if they did?! Inquiring minds wanna know! ('Never stop learning.' -- AETN) ;)
Good lotion tho!
AC, I know there aren't categories for everything I'm reviewing, so feel free to put them wherever you see fit ;)b
e.l.f eyes lips face
Elements custom compact
Love it! The lid has a mirror that's actually big enough to be useful, which is always nice. It's also great to pick out whatever colors of eyeshadow I want to create my own compact. (kristinv)
Liquid Eyeliner
(coffee) Comparable to other liquid liners I've used but MUCH cheaper...win! Color is a nice, deep brown. No complaints. (kristinv)
Eyeliner & Shadow Stick
(basic/brown) Bad. Just bad. The eyeliner does not go on smoothly. And then it fell out of the stick after a couple uses. The shadow part works fine, though. I really like the coppery color of the shadow. Does eventually crease. (kristinv)
Eye Shadow (general)
I really like all the eye shadows I've tried so far! Some of the light shades end up being really sheer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The powder shadows are easy to apply and don't crease. (kristinv)
Duo Eye Shadow Cream
(black licorice) Love it! One half is a shimmery gray, and the other is a shimmery black. I like to smudge on the gray shadow with my finger, then use an eyeliner brush to line my eyes with the black color. Unlike the powdered eye shadows, creasing may occur. (kristinv)
Brightening Eye Shadow
(silver lining) This color set has pink, lavender, purple and charcoal colors (all shimmery). The pink and lavender colors look pretty natural with a bit of shimmer on my fair skin. And the purple color isn't as saturated as I would like. (kristinv)
Waterproof/Regular Duo Mascara
I tried the waterproof mascara, and my eyelashes kept sticking/clumping together even though I applied it cleanly. Part of the issue is that the mascara brush isn't well made for defining individual lashes. After having this issue a few times, I've given up on it and haven't bothered to try the regular mascara end. (kristinv)
Mineral Infused Mascara
Awesome! This is my new favorite mascara. Does a great job defining and lengthening without clumping. It can be difficult to wash off, but the makeup remover wipes by e.l.f. seem to work pretty well. (kristinv)
Yeah, this review thread is a bit more widespread and varied, but all reviews welcome! :)
Woah I am behind on this....
Elf products:
mineral infused mascara
Awesome. A really really good mascara. It's as good as any I've ever tried even the expensive ones. The brush is really good, and I'm sure that's part of it. Really lengthens the lashes and doesn't clump them all up together. Love it. (shelloid)
duo mascara
ok. Not too bad for the price. The brush isn't amazing and I found it was easy to make my lashes look clumped up. If I was careful with the application it was fine though, but I much prefer the mineral infused one. (shelloid)
Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15
Excellent. I like the coverage it gives, considering it's only a moisturiser. It smells really nice too. Only problem is that the tube is really small, but it is incredibly cheap. (shelloid)
Studio Pressed Powder
Excellent. Goes on nice and smoothly. The compact it comes in is great - it has a separate bit for the applicator thing and a little mirror. Love it and prefer it to the ordinary pressed powder from elf and to the studio translucent powder. (shelloid)
Studio Translucent Powder
I thought that this was great....until I tried the studio pressed powder. I think the reason I prefer the pressed powder is the compact it comes in...but the translucent powder has a better applicator. This is good, but it's just bulkier to carry around. (shelloid)
Nail Polish
I have mixed views on these. I tried the plum colour and loved it - it only needed one or two coats to give a nice colour. Then I tried the lilac and the cover just wasn't that great and it needed about 4 coats just to notice any colour at all. So I'm guessing the lighter colours need more coats than the darker ones. BUT they do last really well and they don't tend to chip that much - I only use them on my toenails and so the colour tends to wear off rather than chipping, but with other brands I have experienced chips on my toenails. Next time I can get someone to bring some stuff over from the UK I'll get more colours of these (shelloid)
Tone Correcting Concealer
I like this just fine. It gives a pretty good cover - but I only really use it to cover up the dark circles under my eyes. Seems to last pretty well. (shelloid)
Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter
I liked this pretty well, but only ever really used the concealer end and not the highlighter bit (what do you use that for!?). I didn't really notice it being much better than the tone correcting concealer so I'll stick with that one as it's cheaper. (shelloid)
super glossy lip shine spf 15
I like this a lot. I used to have the clear one and loved that - it smells lovely. This time I got the iced latte colour and like that too - I was surprised at how much colour it gives though. For a lip gloss I expected less colour, but I like it! It is a little bit sticky though, but not too bad. (shelloid)
Luscious Liquid Lipstick
wasn't that impressed with this. It didn't give that much colour and was pretty much just a lip gloss and not a lipstick. I expect a lipstick to give full coverage. I got the maple sugar colour and could hardly see anything except a gloss. (shelloid)
Liquid eyeliner
I like this just fine. It's nothing amazing but it's certainly not any worse than other liquid eye liners I've had. For the price it is great though. (shelloid)
Nature's Organics products
I love these. I am so pleased I found these when we first got to NZ. We use the shower gels and shower cream and love them. We both like the exfoliating gel. I also use the 'fruits' shampoo and conditioner - they smell lovely and are so super cheap. I have used the Organic care shampoo and conditioner and whilst they are also good, they are not as cheap as the fruit ones. (shelloid)
Shelloid, I'm guessing the eye highlighter is to brighten the inner corners of the eye. I've never used an eye highlighter stick, but sometimes I put a little shimmery white or beige shadow at the inner corners.
ok, I can get that. I really don't wear make up often enough to know much about it...but this highlighter seemed to just rub in to nothingness!
I'm adding the Avalon Organics products. Their website is very helpful, and has a list of NON vegan products:
*Alba
Lipcare 18 SPF: Beeswax, Lanolin
Terra Tints: Beeswax
Sugar Cane Body Polish: Honey
*Un-Petroleum
Natural Lip Balm: Beeswax, Lanolin
Multi-Purpose Jelly: Beeswax
eta: but that's weird, because I didn't even see any of those products listed on their site...
Alba Botanica Hawiian Aloe & Green Tea Moisturizer is a nice, light, easily absorbed moisturizer.
Beauty Without Cruelty Facial Cleanser Vitamin C with Coq10 is wonderful for me. It is gentle enough for my very sensitive skin, doesn't lead to breakouts, and isn't drying either. It also removes makeup easily and the price is reasonable. I have been using it for about a year and wish I'd found it earlier. I can't find it locally and have purchased it from Amazon.
Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush is the best for applying mineral makeup or finishing powder. It is so soft, and holds up well to washing. It's also easy to carry around in a purse because of the way it retracts. It is expensive (about $30), and I was hesitant to buy it at first, but I'm so glad I did. I have used Smashbox and Essence of Beauty synthetic Kabuki brushes, and this blows them both away.

Good lotion tho!
There are many people that have a very high sensitivity to gluten, so using a product that contains it could cause an adverse reaction. Here is a link to some hidden sources of gluten, one of which happens to be lotion. http://www.celiacsolution.com/hidden-gluten.html My friend's little girls is very sensitive to gluten and cannot use any products/ lotions that contain it. It gives her an awful rash.
Hope that helps answer your questions. :)
Purology Products since I'm a whore for them.
Hydrate conditioner: The best conditioner in the universe. Leaves my hair soft, beautiful, healthy and completely manageable. Love love love.
Hydrate shampoo: The best shampoo in the universe. My hair looks, feels, and smells incredible. Will never use anything else on it.
Nanworks-Shine luxe: I bought some of this stuff like 5 years ago and still have it. It's not that it's a bad product. It smells amazing, but I can't find a practical use for it in my daily hair. I have this other wax I was given that makes my hair so stiff and sticky feeling. I find that using this stuff afterward makes my hair smooth, shiny and amazing.
Stylers for support-Power dressing: I don't know what this product is actually for, but I like to use this with the Texture Twist in my hair. I put this stuff in my hair when it's wet, blowdry it and then apply texture twist. It gives my hair a firm hold that lasts longer in the extreme humidity of the summers down here in the south.
Stylers for texture-Nano wax: I love this stuff so much. It's too bad it's hard to find in my area now because it's the best wax EVER. It styles perfectly, and holds all day long without being greasy or crusty. If I could find this, I would still use this and only this in my hair. I don't care that it costs close to $30 in retailers. Worth every freakin' penny.
Stylers for texture-Texture twist: This stuff is AWESOME. I use it daily. It works well with a good haircut in adding texture and a medium hold without getting hard/crusty like a lot of styling products. Men: Try this stuff!
I have these new E.L.F. products to review once I use them a while. I find I might think I love a product in the beginning, but might think differently later.

I have these new E.L.F. products to review once I use them a while. I find I might think I love a product in the beginning, but might think differently later.
Mineral Infused Mascara - Black
Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen - Black
Studio Exact Lash Mascara - Black
Essential Liquid Eyeliner - Midnight
Mineral Blemish Kit - Sheer
That reminds me that I have a couple E.L.F. products to review!
Mineral Blemish Powder
I like it, but I'm not sure if I will keep buying it. Sometimes it seems to help my breakouts, but other times it doesn't seem to do much. I think this might be an issue where the powder helps best with regular acne but may not be as effective for hormonal breakouts. It also doesn't really work as a concealer, so plan on using a different concealer as well if you want any kind of coverage. (kristinv)
Cream Eyeliner (Midnight)
I love it! I sometimes use an angled brush to use eyeshadow as an eyeliner, so using the little eyeliner brush felt really natural to me. It's easier to control than liquid liner. And it doesn't smudge, even after a long day. The color is really nice. It's dark but you can still tell it's blue-toned. I want to get a ton of these in different colors! (kristinv)
Mineral Lipstick (Ripe Rose)
I'm pretty picky about what kind of lipsticks I wear...they have to have moisturizing ingredients and can't feel sticky. This is one of the best ones I've tried! It goes on smooth and the ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter make it nice and moisturizing...almost like wearing a lip balm. I would definitely recommend it. Ripe Rose is a nice neutral color that would probably work well with a lot of skin tones. (kristinv)
e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
I bought this moisturizer for $1.00 from the e.l.f. website. I'm not sure how many ounces of moisturizer come in the container, but I can say that after using it for about a week, it was almost gone, so it's probably worth about $1.00. I have a few problems with this moisturizer.
a) The container is way too small. I'd rather pay $5.00 and get 5x the moisturizer.
b) I don't care for the smell of this product which reminds me of a cross between bubble gum and glue.
c) After applying this moisturizer, my eyes became irritated. The smell already had me thinking that there wasn't much about this moisturizer that's natural, but when my eyes began stinging, I really felt that I was putting something synthetic on my face.
I prefer Kiss My Face's tinted moisturizer. Unfortunately, it seems that it has been discontinued, because when I went to order it on the KMF website the other day, it was nowhere to be found. Boo! Anyone have any other recommendations for tinted moisturizers? I just bought one today from Aveda, but I'm not entirely sure it's vegan, and it was very pricey!!!
More e.l.f. products!
Mineral Foundation
(fair) I've always had to use the lightest possible foundation, and this works well for my skin tone. I bought this hoping to save a little $, since previously I have always bought Bare Minerals matte foundation. This foundation is not matte, however, so my skin still has a little shine. I'm learning to get used to it, but if you want zero-shine, don't bother with this foundation. The coverage is pretty light but looks natural. I always use an additional concealer stick (from Urban Decay), but I had to do the same thing with Bare Minerals so it's not a big deal. (kristinv)
Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
(porcelain) This lotion smells a little weird, but I'm starting to get used to it. The best part is that the nourishing ingredients (Aloe, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E) have actually made my skin softer! The lotion does have a slight greasy feel, but putting powder on top to set it helps a lot. I like to use this under my mineral foundation for extra coverage. (kristinv)
More e.l.f. product reviews!
Pressed Powder
(clarifying, fair) I started using this powder because the local stores don't carry e.l.f. mineral foundation, and I thought I'd try this out instead. Definitely gives more coverage than the mineral foundation and is totally matte. I like that it has salicylic acid...seems to be helping prevent breakouts. You get a decent amount considering it's only $1. Would definitely recommend for anyone with oily/acne-prone skin. (kristinv)
Nail Polish
(dark glitter purple) Looks pretty in the bottle, but you can't really see the glitter-y stuff after it dries. It goes on dark...two coats is plenty. It's not my favorite nail polish but decent for the price ($2). Adding a glitter polish or shiny topcoat would probably help. (kristinv)
Lush:
Dusting Powders-
Silky Underwear Dusting Powder: Awesome. This smells SO good. I just got it the other day and I'm already addicted. I was hoping it would be more moisturizing than it is because it has cocoa butter in it. But I don't really care. It's awesome. You just need to be careful using it because way more than I wanted came out the first few times.
Soap -
Sultana Soap: I got a sample of this and it's nice. It smells really good and didn't make my skin feel weird after wards like most bar soaps do.
Body Tints-
Shimmy Shimmy Glitter Bar: This is awesome. Sometimes I think it has too much glitter, then I remember that that isn't a thing unless you work at Michaels during Christmas. It smells really good, cocoabuttery, kind of like white chocolate. Super moisturizing. Just be aware that you WILL get glitter on everything if you use it. Also when I put it on my arms the glitter all shifts to the bend in my arm at my elbow.
Crazy Rumors:
Perk - Mocha - The BEST thing ever. I need to buy more. It tastes awesome and smells like maple syrup for some reason but the smell seriously fills the room when I use it.
Brew - Peppermint Lemongrass - Awesome. One of my favorites.
Brew - Orange Bergamot - This one is pretty good. Not a favorite but it's still nice
Brew - Apple Spice - Meh. I don't really like apple flavored things. But it was very appley
Brew- Chai - Awesome. I love this. The only thing about this I don't love is how it effects the taste of things i drink right after I put it on (unless I'm drinking chai tea of course)
A La Mode - Mint Chocolate - Didn't like this one. It was gritty for some reason. I did buy it on clearance so it was probably old, though.
A La Mode - Raspberry sherbet - This is okay. Not a huge fan though.
Etsy Shops:
Ella Rose Minerals
Loose Eye Colors - These are THE BEST. I scored a good deal on some of these 2 or 3 years ago (I got 7 eye shadows for like 15 dollars) and I still have tons of eyeshadow left. They last a long time. And I used to pile them on every day. I use the really bright colors and they show up very very VERY true to their color. The colors that I have:
Lemon Shimmer - BRIGHT yellow. This is my favorite one. This is the only one that I'm almost out of
Purple Shimmer - Meh. This is purple. I've never been happy with any purple eyeshadow that I've had. I generally don't use it in how i mix mine anyways. It just makes me look like I have a black eye. This would probably be awesome for some one with really dark skin though.
Strawberry Shimmer - This one is a red with a little bit of pink in it. It's awesome. I don't use it that often but it looks redder on my skin than it does in the container
Raspberry Shimmer - Very close to the strawberry. I usually wind up mixing these up. This has more pink in it. I only really use this one on my cheeks with gold over top of it for a bronze/blush effect
Rainbow Blue Shimmer - Another one of my favorites. Another one I'm running out of. It's such a bright blue. Picture MiMi from The Drew Carey Show. Awesome. You don't need much of it for it to show up exactly as it looks in the jar.
Rainbow Green Shimmer - I like this shade of green. I kind of wish it was more neon though. But it's a very neat green.
Orange Shimmer - Fantastic. I love this. It's a very bright orange.
Pot O' Gold Shimmer - I like to put this on top of the bright colors to tone them down a bit sometimes and make them shimmer a bit more. This doesn't have a super heavy coverage like the bright colors. I like to use it on my cheeks more than anything. Or below my brow when I do fun eyeshadow.
