Why are you a vegetarian?

I have to write a paper for my english class and I'm doing it on the vegetarian vs meat eating. So if you would be so kind as to help by telling me out of these three options which best describes why you are vegetarian/vegan. 1. Animal Cruelty 2. Healthier than eating meat 3. You were raised that way and it just stuck or if you dont fall into any of those then just put 4. Please try to keep responses short b/c i have a feeling this may get a lot of responses. Thanks!!!!! :)

I'm really a combo of all. I've always been interested in animal rights, but when you read about the health benefits and the socio-ecological benefits from a vegetarian diet, the question should be, like someone wrote above, why should you eat meat/animal products?

1 and 4, 4 being the environmentalism, world hunger, that kind of thing.

I went vegetarian simply because the only meat I liked was chicken strips. In trying to find better things to eat using the internet, I came up with all the images and articles about the mistreatment of animals and the effect of animals as commodoties on the planet, and I found them to be arguments that my conscious could not ignore.

me too! exactly this. 3 years later I went vegan, because I was pretty young when going vegetarian and no one else in my family was/is, so I kind of had to learn how to cook/eat on my own. But vegan-ness came 'cause of the animal rights thing, for sure.

I started out just for animal cruelty reasons, but now it's for health too. I'm trying to eat more vegan which helps a lot too!!

Animal welfare / rights - Factory Farming is what made me go veg !

the other reasons such as health, environment and world hunger I learned about after I made my choice. so now it's really a combo of all these 4 reasons.
