Hello, I am a student at Vale Of Catmose College in England. For my food technology coursework I am doing a project on vegans. If you would be willing to fill out a short questionnaire about being a vegan and the foods you eat, please contact me with your email address.
Thank you in anticipation,
Natalie
perhaps you can add your email address to this post? we can not all pm you through the site since we are not all members.
or even put the survey on here for us to answer. People might be more comfortable doing it that way.

7.because i hate plants and it's my mission in life to kill every last one of those f*ckers! (just kidding - because it seemed hypocritical to me - to eat the things that i love, animals).
some of the questions are kind of limiting
3 - what "is" a vegan? i can't call myself vegan because i fall from vegan grace from time to time. what about the person who eats a vegan diet but doesn't check every boxed good to see if the sugar source is beet or cane - are they vegan? what about the person who follows a strict regimented diet but maybe goes to a baseball game (leather casing on the balls), drives a car (i think tire rubber has animal products), etc - are they vegan? so it's a hard question (in my perception)
5. what is defined by "other things"? what about if "meat" was raised by cells in a lab and no animals were every harmed for it anymore? for me, personally - i don't see it changing my current choices, but it's still interesting questions to ask.

7. Why did you become a Vegan?
Initially, for health reasons and weight loss. I also considered it to be the "next step" after having been vegetarian for 10 years.

7. Why did you become a Vegan?
I was a long term vegetarian who eventually realised the inconsistency of being anti-farming of animals to eat but continuing to consume by-products. Animal rights, environmental impact, sustainability...it doesn't take long with even a small amount of thought applied to figure out the vegan lifestyle is the only viable option if you give a shit about the state of our planet.

7. Why did you become a Vegan?
I am vegetarian. I was raised in an environment where hunting and farming (to supplement food sources) was very common. I did not deal well with caring for baby animals, seeing them grow up, feeding them, naming them, playing with them... and then seeing them killed and being expected to eat them. I also couldn't stand to see my dad's latest hunting product in a bowl of ice water in the refrigerator, skinned but still resembling a rabbit, squirrel, or whatever. I always yelled that he should put a warning sign on the fridge door so I'd know not to open it.
I guess I never learned to rationalize like my siblings and cousins.
When my long-time friend (who is vegan) asked me 2 years ago why I wasn't vegetarian but I felt so strongly about animals, I didn't have a good answer. So I stopped eating meat. I'm working on reducing dairy and egg consumption as well.
