need help with hair issue

I used to use chemical "toxic" shampoos and my hair is extremely thin and short and won't become thick or get longer. what brands of natural shampoo should I use?

there is something called max green alchemy that I have used for dandruff that made my hair super shiny and made my hair seem more "full".  I also have fine hair.

Personally I LOVE Aubrey Organics, the green tea shampoo, no chemicals, no animals testing etc.

Are you getting proper nutrition?  For me, that is way more key than the shampoo.  My hair got really (scary) thin when I had low iron stores.  I amended it, and now I use the shittiest, cheapest shampoo there is, and my hair is thick and luscious.  Frankly, I doubt the ability of a shampoo to actually stimulate growth or increase thickness, but I'm basing that entirely on personal experience and the fact that I have no evidence to the contrary.

But get your blood levels checked!  Just in cases.

Also, biotin is a nutrient that is important for hair growth.  Does your multi have it?

Skeptical.

I still don't take one. I keep putting it off... then getting reminded by threads or friends or doctors... then put it off then forget... bad Meggs.  But my hair is ok, for now...

Doom awaits me, I know.

Meh, I mean there are a couple key things:  B12?  Vitamin D?  Make sure you are getting those.

Try Lush.com

I looked, there might not be anything for you.  But I think this stuff is wonderful.  No harmful chemicals.  I have really fine, oily hair.  And I started using a few of their solid shampoos.  Changed my life!  (Ok, not really.)

And almost all of it is vegan.  And the vegan stuff is all very clearly labeled.  Superduper environmentally friendly.  And I can spend hours on their website.  God forbid I actually make it to one of their stores someday.

Maybe I just wanted to tell people about it.  But it is great stuff.

I agree with KMK, nutrition is a lot more important than shampoo. The first time I went to college and lived on my own, I was surviving on cereal bars and apples with peanut butter. I lost a ton of weight, and my hair began falling out whenever I washed it. It became so thin you could see right through it to my scalp (I have dark hair, so that's not good). It wouldn't curl or do anything as far as style, it was just limp and thin.

When I started eating better (when I had more money), taking vitamins, and making sure I got plenty of fats and proteins and iron, my hair grew back in very thick and bouncy. It took about a year to do so, and I also cut it short to help it all stay they same length (because I had new baby hairs coming back in).

Before worrying about shampoo, I would worry about nutrition. It will take a long time for you to see the difference, but I used to work as a receptionist in a hair salon, and my boss always told me you can use shampoo that costs pennies and it won't matter. The only reason to buy "good" shampoo is if you have your hair colored, especially red. If your hair is your natural color you can buy cheap store-brand shampoo. I use Head & Shoulders and my hair is super soft and shiny.

Take a multivitamin!

Yes, vitamin supplements are key. I agree, hair and fingernails are dead by the time they grow long enough to see. I fail to see how smearing something on the outside of something dead will make it healthier. That's like putting makeup on a cadaver, innit? (Cue the OST to "Weekend at Bernie's").
And of course good nutrition. Since I started watching my diet and getting healthier my hair and nails are better than ever. Part of that is the daily vitamin complex.

I honestly don't use shampoo.
I do the water-rinses and occassional Apple Cider Vinegar rinse (which btw makes my hair feel incredible)

I haven't used shampoo for a year this month!  And no one has ever noticed.  And my friends that I tell can't believe it.  My friend's boyfriend is a hair salon person and he can't believe it.
But they all love my hair....

Figured I'd throw out that option... its alot cheaper than buying expensive shampoo and easier when you travel not to have to pack as much...
But some people don't deal well with it and can't get past transition...
my hair never smelled or got greasy when I started, but some people's did...

Diet probably plays a big part in that.

You should just not wash your hair. That's what I do (or rather don't do).

i use nature's gate herbal shampoo.
it's for all hair types and it's basically just made out of plants.
best of all, it makes you smell amazing and it's very calming.
