I bet this news breaks the internet. Farrah Fawcett and MJ on the same day. Two of my childhood icons.
In related news, "Micheal Jackson" in trending on twitter search instead of "Michael Jackson". Seriously, people.
I just went on Facebook and was bombarded with about 20 status updates all talking about Michael Jackson dying. I can't believe it!!
i know, i thought he was unbreakable.
I am seriously in shock. And, you guys, Asia is just waking up...I honestly don't think the internet is going to be able to handle this.
"Beat it" was my first favorite song. :(

CNN is the only station not confirming Michael Jackson's death. The LA Times has confirmed it as had everyone else.
I grew up with Michael Jackson. We are the same age. I thought he was incredibly talented. I also thought he had a horrendous childhood and why he was so odd. I also worried about him being with kids. But we will never know what truly happened.
What I find sad is now Farrah's death will go unnoticed.
Mark my words, People magazine will have M.J. on the cover their next issue. There will be a tiny picture of Farrah on the cover.
She was so amazing in The Burning Bed and of course I always watched Charlie's Angels.
I hate to say at work today when I heard about Farrah, I said I wonder who number 3 will be. Ed M being the first.
I had no idea there would be sad news tonight.
I loved the song Ben, about the rat.
May they both rest in peace.

Aww, lotus42! I still think "PYT" is quite possibly the best song ever written.
Di, lovely tribute to both. Ben is a great song, very sad.
When Thriller came out, my aunt gave my sister and me both a copy for Christmas. We each wanted it sooo bad that we each wanted our own. Usually we had to share everything, but Thriller was so epic that it was overlooked.
Di, lovely tribute to both. Ben is a great song, very sad.
I saw Ryan O'Neill on TV tonight and he looked so very sad. He had planned on marrying Farrah before she passed. He just wanted her to be strong enough to say 'I do'.
What a sad day.
I still remember when John Ritter passed away. I cried. Such a shock.
CNN has just confirmed that Michael has moved on. I hope he finds peace now. I honestly believe he had a very troubled life, childhood and adult life.
The Jackson kids never had a childhood. It was perform, perform, perform.
A sad day for his three children.
I also find it interesting how we mourn the loss of famous people. It is like we feel we actually know them.
A funny Farrah story, when I went to University back in 1977, my mom gave me a Farrah Fawcett coffee mug. The picture of her was the famous shot with the beautiful hair. I said, mom, why are you giving me a mug with a picture of Farrah on it? She said, if you get a boyfriend, you can serve him coffee in this mug. Yeah, like I would serve a boyfriend coffee in a mug with a beautiful 'babe' on it.
Also, may I add, I hope Ed McMahon rests in peace.
It shows you how we should value each day. Farrah was only 62. Michael 50.
Take time to smell the flowers.
Hugs
Di
Everyone in my neighborhood is either having cookouts or just blacking MJ music. I was just driving around, for blocks theres tons of people out.
For some reason i thought he was immortal, at least not yet, i mean he was so young.
Just as I thought, Larry King is on CNN right now and he said his show would have been about Farrah tonight and many shows would have been the same. He said, now it will be all about Michael and Farrah will be a thing of the past.
Funny, it seems that her life was not as worthy. Bet Ryan O'Neill and her family and friends aren't thinking that way.
Ryan and Alana Stewart were at her side when she passed. Alana being one of Rod Stewarts many ex-wives.
Crap, it is sad to see, Michael Jackson, 1958 - 2009. I was born in 58.
Worse, I called an extension at work this week. The voice mail was the voice mail of my friend that died last month at the age of 49. Could anyone have thought of changing the voicemail? I reported it immediately as her husband works with me. Imagine if he had tried to reach the person at that extension now.
Patricia hasn't even been at work for the last year as she struggled with cancer.
In related news, "Micheal Jackson" in trending on twitter search instead of "Michael Jackson". Seriously, people.
wow. that's gonna make me laugh for a long time to come. all respect to the dead, i mean.
Di, I think one reason Michael Jackson's death is kinda "overshadowing" Farrah Fawcett's is because it was so unexpected. Most people knew that she had been battling cancer for quite a while, and while her death is sad, it wasn't a really a shock...unlike Michael Jackson, who was apparently in good health. You know?
this is really sad.... Farrah Fawcett's death was not unexpected, but I couldn't believe it when I heard about MJ's death. I was born in 63 and grew up with his music, many good memories. I hope they are both at peace, where ever they may be.....
I'm gutted to hear this! Both FF and MJ - FF was an icon, and deserves more notice than she is probably going to get :(
MJ was my idol when I was little! And his song 'Ben' was the theme song of a close childhood friend of mine who died at age 13, so that song holds a special place for me.
The end of two eras I suppose.
Noah has one pop CD and it is Thriller. Its the only grown up music he has really taken to. It cracks me up when he closes his door and puts thriller on the cd player. He really only knows the old MJ and not the new, strange one.
He LOVES Thriller...he dresses up like a zombie and dances to the video.
He is sad, but his one comment was, "well maybe now he can be a REAL zombie".
Oh, to be an 8 year old boy......
PS I will look for a picture of Noah in his thriller costume and post it if I can find it.

That is the best. Ever. *loves Noah*
i is sad. i, too, thought he was immortal. :-[

Yeah, I know.
I am watching Larry King right now and they talked to Kenny Rogers who knew both well. He said lovely things about them both and talked so highly of Farrah. He said, maybe her family will have time to bury her in peace because all the media will be on Michael.
Another lady who discovered the Jackson 5 knew Farrah incredibly well and worked with her. They were friends. She said today was horrendous for her. She heard of Farrah's death and then shortly after, Michael's.
Putting it in perspective, I guess if someone very close to me died and the same day a more popular person I knew died and everyone dwelled on the more popular one, I would be sad.
You are right, Michael Jackson's death, just like John Ritter's was a total shock, yet many of us followed the struggle of Farrah Fawcett and anal cancer. A cancer that sounds like a dirty word. That many don't want to talk about or discuss.
Tonight, I haven't stopped humming or hearing the words to 'Ben'.
I truly grew up with Michael. Born the same year and I was so in love with the Jackson Five. Not the Osmond's. Although I wasn't as big of a fan in his adult years, I do love some of his huge hits and he truly was an amazing talent.
I hope both families find comfort and love from their families and friends. I also hope Michael's children as they are still young are welcomed in to one of the siblings homes.
A very sad day indeed... Farrah was my favourite 'Angel' and Michael just seems to have been the backbone in the music industry for so long and has influenced many...
RIP both.... :-(
