Marketing ideas for my vegan book--fun contest!
Hi lovely vegwebbers! :)
I am finally back from my vacation and ready to go with the 2nd edition of my book, "Radiant Health, Inner Wealth." As some of you know, I had a 1st edition that is now sold out. The 2nd edition is actually much better, bigger, includes more recipes (now around 250 total), and has a lay-flat binding. Plus it's $10 cheaper! ($24.99 and free shipping now). Oh, and I have to mention that the 16-page color photo layout ROCKS because of Keda and Vegansapien's beautiful pictures. Those girls know what they're doing!
So, here's my deal: I am looking for all kinds of creative ways to market the book for free (or very little cash). People tell me they love the book, and stores always buy them when I visit and show them the book. However, I can't go all across the country myself. It's exhausting just doing one region!
So...I'm looking for CREATIVE MARKETING IDEAS!! I am prepared to send out at least one free copy of my book to whoever contributes the best idea(s) that will help me market my book. Basically, I love cooking, teaching classes and giving workshops, etc. but I really hate doing marketing. :P
So, how about it? Anyone have some brilliant ideas I haven't already come up with??
Thanks in advance for your time and creativity!!! :)>>>
p.s. My website is: www.radianthealth-innerwealth.com
I cant really think of much. Butttttt, Talk to Webmistress Laura about possibly making it one of the weekly giveaways? Give her a good picture to put on the thread, and the link to buy it and things. Then you could be in the weekly chat about your book and cooking and things?
We have lots more people coming for the giveaways so it might bring in some sales/publicity.
Thats all i've got right now, heh. I'll try to think of something fun!
Off the top of my tired head:
- Facebook
- Twitter
- How about e-mailing stores and events?
- Libraries - "Take my book! It's awesome!"
- Local vegan and health food groups and collectives might be interesting in showing people a copy in exchange for a cheaper deal for members
Thanks for all the great ideas!! Very appreciated. I've already done several of them, but a few are really new ideas that I never thought of such as the recipe cards and vegweb weekly giveaways.
Thanks again!! I look forward to hearing more brilliant ideas and giving at least one person a free book!
:)
Along w/ Shae's idea about doing classes/demos at Whole Foods-esque stores, you could have 'volunteer's' (aka fellow vw'ers) around the country do them for their 'region'.....Send the volunteers a book 4+ weeks in advance of the first demo, giving them time pick out recipe(s) they'd feel comfortable instructing/demoing and practice them! As registration nears, they can send you info on 'prospective/speculated' sales to determine how many books will be needing to be shipped.
There's several other things that I hear rattling in my brain right now, but am too tired to try and find....I'll be back later!

I am using a variation of this idea (which is one that I had already thought of a while back) in another thread: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=29063.0
..if you have any interest in doing the idea in this new thread (showing the book to a few stores), I will be very happy to send you a copy of the book as a thank-you! I would however feel like I was imposing too much to ask people to actually do a demo of a recipe. That's a lot of work!! Hopefully this way, it won't be too hard for the volunteers since they will ideally already be going in the store anyway and can just spend an extra 5 minutes showing the book to the right person.
Again, thanks so much for all the great ideas!!!!!
I still fully intend to give someone a book once all the ideas are in (and in my brain!)

How about sending a copy to different vegetarian magazines for a review? Could lead to a possible recipe in the magazine, but a least a small mention.

Thanks, NMPixie!! I just sent some to VegNews. VegTimes is next on the list. Do you know of any other magazines or columns that have a large readership (is that a word? it's getting late!) and are vegan-friendly?
Thanks again! ;)b
