...yep....we lost power here for four days! we've had these massive ice storms. we lived for two days with just the gas fireplace, but then i had to go stay with my mom and dad b/c the girls have had ear infections.
fun fun!
let's see...i tried roasted vegetables....that was good.
i still need to go shopping though to try a few more things b/c life has been crazy around here with no power. we lost a lot of food in the fridge.
Glad you're back, arabella. Glad you're safe.
We just have a LOT of snow :( Roads are bad.
No fun being with out power.
Used to get allot of power outages here where I am.
Finally had a generator installed. That way you can keep the fridge on and the well pump.
Good idea if you live in the country.
Four days without power sounds brutal. Glad to hear you got through it. Next time could you put the refrigerated food outside? It was probably cold enough out there to freeze things.

I spent eight years without electricity.Grew up in a place that had no power lines. The life was real fun then. How I miss my village :'(
I wouldn't mind being without power as long as I mad a wood buring fireplace. I love potatoes roasted in a fire.
I spent a month without power in Galveston years ago after a hurricane. Later, I spent two months in Mississippi without power during the winter. When you're used to having it, it takes a few days to realize that you don't need it (or perhaps I should say, can live without it). It definitely sucks at first, though.
I was raised in the Midwest and my dad made sure our heat and stove/oven were natural gas so we always had heat even in the biggest storms, and a way to cook. The chest freezer was out in the "breezeway" so it was basically outside, which meant food kept frozen! And my mother was a great one to use the breezeway as a "fridge" at need. Other people had to spend snowstorms in the elementary schools...Mom broke out the kerosene lamps and fired up the wood stove in the living room...and made cookies in the gas oven.
I LOVED "snow days" because no electricity meant no blaring television. It meant lamplight and books and baked goods and board games.
Ok I lost power yesterday thankfully it went back on early this morning.
I have a kerosene heater, gas lamps and always plenty of water.
Do have the generator if needed.
The only thing I miss when the power is out is my pc.
I have a laptop now so really do not need the power if it goes out for extended periods.
My place is almost off the grid so if I figure out solar power I will not have to rely on anything.

Respect. I would one day like to be off the grid.
6.30 am lost power
7.30 pm power came on. 13 hours lost touch with the world.
Absolute peace!! ;)b
