Also: do you dye your hair to cover up the gray?
I am 26 and noticed my first white hair when I was about 18. I've been getting more and more steadily but I don't dye my hair. I've been starting to think about it but I don't really want to. I just feel like it makes me look older than I am. My mom started getting white hair when she was 18 too and dyed it to have long black hair for a long time, until a little before she got married, at age...35? When she cut it short and let it go natural it was really gray. Now it's almost all white. So yeah, I know where I'm headed. I'm just curious about everyone else!
I don't think I have many/any grey or white hairs. I want to say that I have had a couple, but I don't know where they've gone! I'm 31 and have naturally brown (not light, not dark) hair.
My dad had very dark brown/black hair and very thick until the last few years, and he's now 59. My mum still have reasonably thick hair but is very grey.
My mum went grey at about 50 (now 57). A couple of years ago we were talking about grey hair and she was saying that she was glad she wasn't grey. My sister replied that she was. My mum was most offended and said, no she was 'salt and pepper, not grey'.
We couldn't help but piss ourselves laughing as she was blatantly grey all over.
N has very dark brown hair, nearly black. He has a few white or light grey hairs but not many. The ones he does have stand out because of the darkness of the rest. He is lucky because his hair is so thick that the few white ones don't really stand out. He will probably not lose his hair or go white-grey, as all his family have ended up with thick heads of hair until the end.
I like to tease him he's going bald...which he is ;)
hmmm i wonder what that means for me then. blonde as a kid and getting progressively darker brown as the years go by...
I know what you mean though. I know a number of people who have "black" hair and have had grey/white ones since high school.
My mom always said, "Hair gets darker before it gets lighter." My sister and I had white-blonde hair when we were kids. Mine darkened to mouse brown, while hers stayed honeyblonde in summer and dirty-blonde in winter. I started going grey about time my sister and I came to a parting of the ways, so I don't know what happened to hers.
I think my hair has gotten just a bit lighter overall since I was little. People used to always think my hair was black but it's just very dark brown. Now I don't see how it could be mistaken for black though. I always find it interesting to look at photos of dark blond or brown haired people when they were kids and see them with super light blond hair. It's so interesting how that happens!
I started going grey in my early 40's and colored it until I turned 50. I figured 50 was old enough for grey hair. It aged me when I let it go grery, but what the heck.

That's kinda how I feel. I keep telling DH I'm going to stop dying it at 50 but I'll probably carry on till 55. I figure by that age I'm entitled to the grey.
I started getting greys at 16. I've always colored my hair, so I didn't notice how many I had. I'm 3 months pregnant, so I haven't colored my hair since I found out, and man, have they multiplied - like bebe kids. I tried parting my hair in different ways, but uh.. they're all over. I think it looks a little rediculous to have 2 inches of grey and mousy brown roots, and the rest 'pretty', but oh well.
I remember a friend of mine was pretty grey, and in his late 20's/early 30's and dyed his hair blue black, and it looked so cool, because his greys turned blue, and the rest was black.
no gray's here, i'm 26 and naturally dirty blond... i do dye my hair tho... i have my dad's hair, he has a few gray's, my mom starting getting gray hair in her late 30's i think
I noticed my first white one around 31, maybe shortly before. However, I'm naturally dark blond and they're all on the very top of my head so when my hair is up they would be difficult to notice. However, I began henna-ing my hair a year ago, just because. When my roots grow you can see lots of them now.
I've not noticed any on myself yet.
My husband is 25 and has scattered white hairs, and has done for about a year or more. He gets me to pull them out sometimes. He's got quite dark hair and they tend to either be really curly or really thick and straight, but either way they stand out quite a lot to us at least, because we know they're there.
I have greys!!!!! :) but by dammit i have earned them! I have had the most hellacious year of my life, and that is when the bulk (all of about 20 at most) came. I decided long ago, that when i started to turn it would all go natural... i have never been one to dye my hair unless it was purple, green, blue, other rainbow undersarah approved colors. if the universe wants me grey... then ffs i shall wear it proudly :)
"UnderSarah approved!" Love it!! ;D :)>>>
