So!!
As most of you know, my roommie bailed on me, leaving me with no way to pay rent/utilities etc.... gov't programs are dried up 'til december....
NOW I have a 72 hr notice where if I don't come up with $600, I'll be evicted!!!
I'm in a real panic, and don't know what to do. :'(
I'm so sorry Hanashi....I wish I had some advice....just know that I'm thinking about ya....
Could you apply for a small bank loan? I can't think of anything else...
I'm not a lawyer, but in most places a 72 hour notice to pay up or quit is just that a notice....if they want to evict you, they have to file papers with the court...like I said, I'm no lawyer, but you might want to call one that gives free advice...that buys you a little bit of time to either come up with the money, or find some place else check out this website www.rentlaw.com then type in your state
yeah....all my accounts are over drawn.... (thank you kitty!) so credit is complete and utter shit.
potatohead, you are right about that.... I just REALLY don't want to get on my manager's bad side, he's been super cool and helpful for me, and I don't want to get him into trouble w/ his boss.... plus, I need $$ anyways.....
This is what the 'scary' clause states:
"Pursuant to ORS 90.394(2a) if your rent is not paid within the time indicated, your rental agreement will be terminated and the landlord will *proceed* to take possession of the premises according to statute."
and then this one:
"Your rent payment must be paid by midnight (end of day) 10/11/2009 or *your tenancy will terminate automatically* without further notice."
I'm hoping the guy coming out tomorrow will like the place and be able to move in ASAP with the appropriate deposit I requested. Unfortunately, he has a cat....but otherwise, I think we'd get along. If things go as I'm hoping they will, I should be able to survive!!
I called every agency possible on the first of the month. No one (with the exception of the one I was on hold for over 2 hours just to get disconnected) has funds available. All of them told me to call back in 5 days to see if the status has changed....no change. I tried the 2 hr one again, and was on 'til the office closed was constantly told I had 3 people before me....grrrr.....I just got off the phone with United Way's 211 service, and they told me what I already figured out everyone with the exception of the one I've yet to reach is out of funds!!!!

I wish I were near to you, I'd offer you some temporary housing if it really came down to that. I only have special vibes I can offer from here and I'll be keeping you right up there in my "special needs" place for good vibes to be coming your way.
I'm the type who really believes that things will work out ( I know they do, one way or another! ) and quite often, it actually might work out to be something really great that you might never have imagined.

have u asked ur family for help? i nkow it sucks and u probably already thought of that... i hope u put an add on craigslist as well?!?! if ur homeless u could always come stay with me in cali if u have to... keep ur head up i will pray for u!
My Dad still kinda owes me $$ he said he'd give to help with medical and upcoming car bills.... He's also on vacation out in the boonies....... Craigslist Ad has been up, only one response thus far....it has been up for 6 days. I have numerous couches offered to me. So if worst comes to worst, I'll still have a place to sleep!! I'm most worried about the cats..... :/
I have some possible aid prospects, but I have to wait 'til Monday..... Hopefully it'll work out!! It also looks like I may have an even better job lined up (regular, daytime hours, $0.50 more per hr) than the merch position I'm interviewing for on Monday!
Like I said....I'm sure it is gonna work out, I just need to find a way of surviving the next few weeks, be able to afford my cats pre$cription food, gas, medicine, keep a roof over my head etc.

At this point, yes.....luckily, legally they can't boot me for another 2 weeks.....I may just have to pay more fees but like I said before, things will work out. Thank you for your generosity!!!
I'm glad to hear there's a plan in the works and that you're hopeful it will work out. Hang in there. Been there and done that.
