Cs "coming out"/birthday party
Today we celebrated Cs seventh birthday. and it was a very special day. His mom decided that it was time for everyone to start buying C the birthday presents C wanted- not what C SHOULD be wanting.
So this story will be more fabulous to those of you who have been following my posts about the seven year old I nanny for/ live with who is biologically male but likes to be a girl. C LOVES to sing and dance and wear pretty, frilly dresses. So (s)he got: tap shoes (with the promise of lessons) a dancing, singing dog (from someone who was shy about giving something pink) a fairy costume complete with tiara, a pink/purple/white feather boa, the Shirley temple collection (his new thing is asking us if (s)he looks like Shirley temple because Shirley temple is the CUTEST!) I got C a Highschool musical stage with dressingroom that lights up and plays music, a purple microphone and some Hannah Montana hair that is really long and curly with purple highlights.
The only weird thing, Cs grandparents got cute little boys clothes----C opened them and then took the cards out- he wouldn't even look at the clothes when his older cousin tried to tell him how cute all the shirts and vests were. He just shoved them all all back in the bag and didn't say a word, just went on to the next gift....hummm. A few of the little boys at the party thought that it was weird that he got "girl stuff" and seemed to think it was a mistake-- I just answered their questions by saying "these are just the sort of thing C likes, they are not 'boy toys' or 'girl toys' they are just toys for people who enjoy them" that seemed to work for all but the oldest boy who was probably about 10. If only everyone could be as understanding as the little kids. The grandparents, I think I should clarify, are in support of him "playing dress ups" but ONLY when he is at their house or his house and even then it supposed to be secret...umm...okay....meanwhile, we are letting C pick out girls clothes for school this year if thats what strikes the fancy. Oops.
Anyways, after the presents C put on a favorite dress, the fairy wings, boa and tiara, the Hannah Montana hair and preformed on the highschool musical stage singing loudly to "I'm a Barbie girl!" and the little orphan Annie sound track. C is so feminine in the choreography (s)he does...She loves to wiggle her hips (not just when she is singing, when she is walking too) wiggle her shoulders and throw cute looks at the audience through beautiful, long eye lashes...then she crosses her legs in to a cute curtsy as she gets down low, arms raised for the grand finale!
OMG SOOOOOO cute. If the adoption was complete, i would SO be all about posting the cute pictures for you guys to see. It is seriously the cutest thing i have ever seen! However, the law says we cannot post pics of the kids until they have been adopted by their mom. You just have to trust me that C was a very very cute and happy little girl today!!! :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>> :)>>>

yeah, as you can tell from my post, i have no idea what to do about pronouns yet...I try to avoid them as much as possible but its hard!
i knew you guys would be happy to hear this news <3
Oh yeah, I thought I would add that Cs reaction to the boys clothes was not just because o no little kid likes to get cloths as presents, C normally LOVES clothes....but C was ALL GIRL today and I think not too happy to be getting little boys clothes. I dont know if she will change her mind about them or if we will ahve to doa return- i dont even know if we CAN do a return for something more...pretty. ???
That sounds like such a fun birthday party. You know you seriously rock, right? She's an incredibly lucky kid to find a family, you included, that doesn't categorize love. And speaking of you, how are you doing since the doctor's appointment you posted about?

i agree. most people would force the kid to be "what they should be". not many people let kids choose who they are. She's gonna be eternally grateful for you!!
I agree... Great job VHZ!! ;)b

I'm sure if you explained that the clothing was purchased by someone that thought the birthday party was for a seven year old boy when in reality it was for a girl, although odd... true, they would exchange.
vhz, you are a wonderful person. :)>>> :)>>>
Z, this truly is a joy to read!! I'm sooooo excited to be peripherally watching C grow into the person they want to be, regardless of gender definitions!
happy birthday to c!!! that all sounds so fabulous!
