;D Jellybeans and one screwdriver!  Awesome.

I got piles of presents this year but the BEST thing was just being able to go home and play games with my family and boyfriend.  (The mushroom harvesting basket and The Asian Vegan Kitchen cookbook were badass too ;) )

We did a "small" Christmas this year in order to save money and thus afford our trip in January.  :)  Except he splurged and got me a bright orange beach cruiser...and he's already re-purposed my old bike into his new bike by ripping off the stickers and painting it black (apparently he didn't like the purple!)!!

My other fav gifts (from his fam) are a compact travel ipod stereo type thingy, a carry-on to go with my roller luggage, a couple of books and a photo album.

i was not expecting a lot of things.  last year i got a blanket from my boyfriends family, so this year i just got them a couple things.  but holy cow.  this year, they went all out, but i didnt.  i feel really bad! : (  my boyfriends brothers girlfriend even got me a bunch of things, i didnt get her anything : (

the best part was that even though this was my first christmas away from home (almost 2,000 miles away), my parents managed to send me down a big box full of awesome goodies!!  it was so thoughtful of them.  : )  my favorite being the compost aerator.  holy cow.  if you have a compost.  you need an aerator.  it is the best thing ever.  no sweat breaking involved.

In addition to presents, I scored $120 at Christmas.

Do I put it toward an All American Pressure Canner 921 21 Quart ($210)

or a SoyQuick Premier Milk Maker 930P ($180)?

The cost is about the same.  With the pressure canner, I can pressure cook anything and pressure can low acidic food (like soup).  With the soymilk maker, I could make grain milk (I drink about two boxes of almond milk a month).

Nope.  You can't pressure can in a pressure cooker, only a pressure canner.  I'm leaning toward the pressure canner, but I wanted to see what other people thought.

In reality, I have $1,700 worth of dental co-pays coming up and I'm getting a 10% pay cut in February, so my goal is to still have the $120 to put toward either once I get my dentist paid.  (And then there's property tax in March.)

Not according to the Magefesa people. Depends on the size of your jars, though.

Which one did you get? I got the Hymini.

I asked for no prezzies this year, so I was very happy that the only things I got were the Hymini and a carbon offset for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Yay for being green!! (Heh, and somehow I managed not to wrap a single present this year-- boooooo on wrapping paper and useless waste!)

But seriously, it was the best Christmas ever. I spent the previous weekend with the fam to celebrate Hanukkah and an early Christmas, then spent Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat with good friends. Hell yeah for breaking traditions, because truly, I can't remember a nicer holiday. :D

Please don't try it, bp, in a pressure cooker.  Pressure cookers don't maintain pressure.  Also, cookers heat up and cool down faster than pressure canners, but the total processing time has been developed for canners.  You can't just add 10 minutes to the processing time to make up for it.
