2008 - Success!

New year's resolutions are fine and dandy, but it always gives me the impression that the previous year just wasn't  good enough and I should prepare to be better next year, improve myself, etc...

While I do agree goal setting is important, I just wanted to take a minute to list what we did succeed at over the past year, dangit!

I'll start.

1) I went back to school full-time. I got all straight A's and was invited to join the honor society. (its just community college, but it is a big deal for me...)

2) I did a lot of gardening.

3) Took my first vacation ever with my kids and mom. Went to the ocean for the first time. It was awesome.

4) I voted for the first time.

That's about it.

Let's end this year on a positive note! What are you guys proud of from 08?

1. I finally got out of working at BJs even though it took someone treating me horribly. Now work at Verizon Wireless

2. Bought a house with my bf and after some big fights at the start, we're finally very happy

3. Finally feel more like a grown up at 24 instead of a child

4. After all the changes, am more willing to face my fears :)

Well, 2008 really, really sucked for me--but there are two things I am really proud of...

I was really active in animal rights and feel like I did a lot of good in that area--got to meet some awesome people and now I am networking all over the country helping where I can.

I started running! I have a love/hate relationship with running--but mostly I love it. I wish I was better at it--but the meer fact that I can do it is awesome in my opinion!

Now if only I could combine those two--maybe I could get my running in while rescuing animals--I should start a 5/10k for a sanctuary! That would be AWESOME!

1. I came a long way in my vegetarian journey

2. My hubby and I proved to our families that we can make it without them

3. I graduated college

1) I went back to college after a 5-year hiatus! Yay!

2) I also made straight A's! Yay!

3) I made it an entire year vegetarian, and everyone close to me has stopped saying it was a "phase." Yay!

4) I became a kitty-mommy! We adopted Pouncival from a no-kill shelter! Double Yay!

5) Josh and I moved out of our roommate-infested place near the college and to our own apartment by a lake in a much nicer part of town!

6) I quit my job at GameStop and now work part-time as a receptionist instead, thus cutting out the one thing that was keeping me from being truly happy!

7) Josh finally told his parents about me, so there are no more secrets hanging in the air!

8 ) Josh graduated college!

9) I voted for the first time!

10) I've accepted that Josh will propose to me when he's ready, and not before... and I now cherish our relationship for what it is and not what it will be.

Dang, '08 was really good! I can't wait to see how '09 improves on all these good things.

i met ponycakes at a random happenstance.
voted for the first time.
got a new computer with all the games i could ever need.
tried a whole bunch of vegetables i've never heard of (because i am an omnivore  :-[).

nothing really exciting. i think becoming friends (and "boytoy") with ponycakes was the highlight of my year. she's introduced me to lots of great things.

I got my drivers license

I got to 100% of my ideal body weight (doesn't always feel like a good thing, and at times I have trouble staying there but I know its a good thing to my recovery to have gotten there and to see that it "wasn't so bad...")

I competed 098 math so i can FINALLY move on to college level algebra!!!!

I challenged myself socially by going to the CT potluck, asking a boy out, doing stuff with my church group...and actually had FUN!

In February I quit using laxatives, diet pills and diuretics! Again, painful, hard but wonderful! :)>>>

Yes! That's a great idea HH! I was thinging I would get my animal rights group to go to the humae society on a weekly basis to help them out--the Humane Society has had to let so many people go due to the economy and they are getting in recod number of animals for the same reason--I'm sure the pups would love to be taken out for runs!

You're my muse-big kisses for you (and licks from the dogs who will benefit!)

After reading everyone elses posts at first I thought, wow those are all great things, and I haven't really accomplished anything important at all but there are a couple of things I am proud of:

1. I did not drink alcohol for the whole of 2008.
2. I did not smoke cigarettes either.
3. I improved my diet by eating more veg/fruit, less processed foods, and stopped drinking milk (ew).
4. As a result of these first 3 things I lost 16 kilograms (35 pounds).
5. I made short and long term goals for my future that I am working towards.
6. In 2008 I finally realised it is up to me to make myself happy and it is a choice (this is probably the most important thing I learned).

Well done everyone on all you achieved in 2008.

3. Made some amazing new friends.
4. Celebrated my third anniversary with my boy (ok, technically it's in two days but I'm counting it as a win for this year!).

This year...

1 - I voted for the 5th time in my life.
2 - I just paid full one of my credit card.
3 - I lost 15 pounds.

That's all I can think about right now. 2008 was not an eventful night.

I noticed a few folks mention losing weight.
I have lost about 42 pounds this past year.  8)
So happy about that. Helped my confidence level. I bought a few clothes today at the thrift shop.
Dropped two shirt sizes. Ok I know most guys don't worry about weight. But I worry about mine.

This is a really good idea.

1. I wrapped up the last part of living 11 months without my SO.

2. I completed my first full year of my job, and as I typed up my year-end review I realized I was pretty successful. (I had a lousy end-of-the-year--not as much work-related as just life-related--which I think clouds a lot of the good things that happened.)

3. I cut way down on the amount of eggs and cheese I consume, and learned how to cook with nutritional yeast. I also made my first pie ever (vegan or otherwise).

4. I met many of my new years resolutions, most of which were health-related (e.g., decipher nasty headaches, go to the doctor's for a full checkup including bloodwork.)

5. I (we) rented our first real "home" in my new town.
