What do you collect?

I'm not big on collecting things but I have a small hand bell collection, including the school bell that was used in the second school I taught in.  I also have and odd plate collection.  When I see an unusual or particularly attractive dinner or serving plate I'll buy it and use it for serving cakes, cookies, sandwiches, etc... So, what do you guys collect?

Vinyl.

I don't have an official count, but I'd be willling to guess it's well over 3,000 records.

DVD movies, not just any old movie but ones I like enough to watch over and over. Still I have a startling number.

Amethyst jewelry, pref. mounted in silver. Not a large collection but every piece is loved and worn.

Strangely enough, things to do with St. Therese of Lisieux. I am not Catholic but she fascinates me as a person. I even have the independent movie made about her in the US in spite of its many anachronisms and oddnesses (such as a beautiful handmade American quilt--on a bed supposedly in 19th century Normandy.)

I collect DVD's and CD's. As goofy as this sounds, I actually collected star wars toys as a kid, to my late teenager years. It was ridiculous, but I still have a bunch of the stuff in my house. Any geek out there want to buy the stuff?

I want to collect Fennec Foxes.  They're 14 to 16 inches longs and weigh about 3 pounds.  Okay.  Not "collect" one, necessarily, but if one wanted to move in with me, I wouldn't mind.

Goofy depends on which Star Wars.  I was big into IV, V, and VI.  My sister and I used to close ourselves in our windowless bathroom and battle with lightsabers in the late 70s / early 80s.

i totally used to collect erasers...the type that are all shaped different for kids.

I collect rubber ducks. I have one from when I was a baby....you used to never see rubber ducks...now they are friggen everywhere and it pisses me off...when people I know see a rubber duck, they buy it for me...but secretly, the more my collection grows, the more freaked out i get. I feel like I'm suffocating in things....I have too much stuff and I just want o get rid of it all or something....but my collection keeps growing...and they are so cute I cant bring myself to get rid of them...

^-^rubber ducky, you the one...you make my bathtime so much fun....every day when i make my way to the tubby, I find a cute little fellow who's yellow and chubby....rubber ducky joy of joys when i squeeze you you make a noise......

OMG so cute!  I wouldn't mind if one came into my apt and started hanging with me either  :)>>>

Hmmm as far as collections, I'm not much of a collector although I did also get into collecting star wars things hehe...now I guess it would be vinyl and books, both can become expensive hobbies, ekkk, so I'm picky about what I get.

1) currently, i have not lived in the sa,e place for over a year for the past 4 years
2) i dont have the money (unless it was collections of 'found' stuff)
3) i hate buying things i don't need, for multiple reasons.

Wow! Do you play them? What's your favorite?

I play some of them, yes. I don't know if I have a favorite album of all time, but I keep coming back to Janis Joplin's 'Pearl' album, my Tori Amos, Bjork and Portoshead LPs. I have tons and tons of older hardcore, mid 90's emo, punkish type stuff that I listen to randomly. I really should thin most of that out though. I have lots of classic country on vinyl. Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Waylon & Willie, etc.

;D  I take it you don't move too often.

hahahaha, I've moved once and it was a freakin' nightmare!

I bet Cat would mind!

Yeah, he would.  Cat is 16 inches long (tail excluded), so they'd be the same length, and he's about eight pounds heavier, but he'd still get whooped.

uh... horses (the live kind)  ;)  Wish I could afford more!  I love to rescue them and see them come around to re-trusting and liking humans again along with growing back into healthy, shiny, happy horses   :)>>>    There are so many out there going to slaughter now, being shipped hundreds of miles to Mexico or Canada crowded onto semis suffering broken legs and injuries from overcrowded trucks, no water, and then suffering horrible deaths.   :'(

...and books

oh yeah, i used to collect Polly Pockets when i was younger. y'know, when they had them come in the little clip-closed compacts and the figurines were tiny. not the crap they have now, that stuff is just depressing because it was good the way it was.

i still pull it all out every once in a while and look at it for a half hour. i'd probably do that today but i have a feeling it's at the bottom of a pile

My very favourite animal! I wanted to be a zookeeper as a kid, so I was given a lot of picture books of "exotic" animals. The closeup of the Fennec that took up an entire page is still fresh in my memory.

Oh, yes, FF, you're right. Books. AKA friends with covers.

I totally agree! When I first saw a commercial for the new Polly Pockets..or whatever they are called now (Giant Polly's?)..I was outraged! I could never find the rest of my collection when I was still at home in Tx  (I kept one Polly and two little horses around)...someday I'll find all those things again!

I collect Starbucks coffee mugs and horror DVDs: vampires, zombies, werewolves and eurotrash horror mostly.
