seriously, something is horribly wrong with Paula Deen.
*embarrassed cough* i..i just printed the recipe..with the full intention of making it.. ;D
i was thinking glazed baked donut nuggets for the krispy kremes..and then i found this condensed milk recipe online...
i feel like ive done something bad.. :)
Tee hee....
Nonsense, ponycakes!
Veganize that sucker!
Let us know how it turns out too ;D
OMG! :D I love watching Paula Deen because it is so hilarious! Truthfully, she seems like a really nice lady, but I really can't believe she has not had a heart attack!
THIS is my favorite recipe ever (to look & be shocked about; not to eat, of course :P):

;D
The best part is that while Paula was making it, she kept saying, "Now y'all, I know this looks bad for ya, but remember that there is no extra fat or sugar added to the recipe, other than what's already in the Krispy Kremes."
Um... What about the sweetened condensed milk? Or the stick of butter in the rum sauce?! Or the fruit cocktail? Or the POUND of powdered sugar? Or... :-X
I remember reading the reviews for this recipe out of sheer curiosity (it has 5/5 stars right now; I wonder why Americans are so fat? :o), and mixed in with all these glowing reviews, some wise person wrote, "This looks like diabetes in a Pyrex." 8)
Truer words were never spoken.
Ugh. My coworker that makes the Paula Deen recipes has brought this one to school before. It looked like vomit to me.
Well, I've lived in the South all my life and if this is Southern Cooking, then I've just had southern cooking. My mother, who was also born and raised in the South, never cooked with lard in her life. She used a little bacon grease now and then :P but not on a regular basis. My father's mother was also born and raised in the South and I don't think she used lard. If she did, it also was not much. We never had deep-fried stuff, either. I think Paula Deen is giving Southern Cooking a bad name. Or maybe I just don't know what true Southern Cooking is myself. Not that I really care. ::)
Same here Bookmama...totally southern family here...we had fried chicken and fried okra...in vegetable oil NO LARD. That was the extent of our fried-ness.
And I really have no idea why anyone would want the butter balls.
i'm pretty sure you dip them in melted butter.

Ah. Well, that makes sense.
Vegan Turkey Day!! any ideas?
Can I just say how much I enjoy the title of this thread?
I thought it was gonna be something really controversial....
But no, it's just....*dramatic music*.......
PAULA DEEN.
Makes me smile every time.
I agree..I was expecting something else...I was however offended...at least my heart was....I think it skipped at the thought of me downloading that recipe...lets see....mmmm is there anyone at work I dislike enough to gift this to this wonderful holiday season....
OH MY! Those are super gross! I remember one time I was watching her make some kind of deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwich casserole with greasy chips....UGH! It was really gross!

haha yeah they should rename this recipe: "what to feed your enemies so they can die a slow slow death"
i love paula deen. she seriously makes me laugh...w/ her nature and her wanton use of butter. i cant hate her like i do rachel ray... who, just recently said: to make this vegetarian, justuse chicken broth. ugh!! and she does use veal sooo much. i get so disgusted by her, even more than paula, b/c EVERY meal is centered around meat and copious amounts of cheese!! anywhoo...
paula deen also smokes, so i wouldnt trust her tastebuds.... no doubt this is why she likes to eat such fatty rich foods.
being LO, i have made a few of her dishes... some potato stuff and desserts... and honestly, they sucked!! they really had NO flavor to them, it was just creamy, heavy and a waste of my effort.
i physically gagged just now
i cant hate her like i do rachel ray... who, just recently said: to make this vegetarian, justuse chicken broth. ugh!!
I heard that recently and just had to shake my head. People are such idiots...

Are you fracking serious???????? I literally can't stop shaking my head...tomorrow it will still be shaking and I'll have to explain to eveyone that Rachel Ray broke me....*ERG*
I just have to believe that it was her misspeaking... but still. Yikes.

That is pretty sad, considering she has a vegetarian cookbook out.

yeah, the old bait and switch. I should have been a used car salesman. "I know you came here to see the mercedes that has been converted to biodiesel, marked at $500 below blue book, but have you thought about a 72 oldsmobile, complete with a working 8 track player? Just imagine all of the herb albert and the tijuana brass you can buy at the salvation army?"
I actually really enjoy watching Paula Deen's show. The woman has personality like it's going out of style. I grew up eating lots of fatty southern comfort foods like she prepares, so I watch for nostalgic purposes

That's like a book of vegetarian pasta dishes we have, where in the corner of one recipe it says, "to make this recipe more interesting, just add some diced ham"... ::) :P or something along those lines.
Did anyone notice the the title of the show that this recipe was featured is called "Everything's Better With Butter"? Ewww

She does?! :o I had no idea!
