What kind of salt is best?

Hi.... So I like to cook and add spices to my meals, but one thing that has always got me thinking, was the differences in salt. For example, I don't like to use Iodized salt, if I don't have too... I've always heard that Sea Salt offers you more benefits. Then I heard that Sea Salt is just a hyped product, and has no differences to the Iodized.

A friend of mine gave me a little bit of himalayan salt, which I had never heard of before... and it's pink?! That seems odd. But I like the taste. And he says it's suppsoed to be healthier for you than Iodized salt... Before I go and spend a bunch of money on salt, I want to know if this is just going to be another hyped product..?

Has anybody ever tried himalayan salt? Is it worth the cost? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

There are many old salt threads.
Just enter salt in search and you will get your answers.

I take kosher, sea salt (celtic) for my daily usage.

Personally, I think the iodized salt tastes weird. It tastes kind of like pepper or..hm. i dunno sort of sharper? I use sea salt for everything since it tastes better to me.
